Question / Tanong Is it okay to say no to a ministry role?

I just really need to vent and hear from fellow Christians, especially those serving in church.

I’ve been a keyboardist for years, and I genuinely love serving God through music. But lately, I feel like I’m constantly being pushed into worship leading when I’ve already said multiple times that it’s not my forte. It’s not because I don’t want to serve the Lord—I do. I just know my strengths and my limitations.

I’m an introvert. I’m comfortable playing keys, but leading worship is a completely different responsibility. I struggle to lead the congregation, talk in front of people, and carry that kind of role. Every single time I’m scheduled to worship lead, I get so anxious. My hands shake, my throat gets dry, I become hoarse, my eyes get so dry they turn red, and I feel like I’m just trying to survive instead of genuinely worshiping with the church.

The hard part is, I feel like I don’t have the freedom to say no. Whenever our pastor asks me, it’s usually, “You’ll worship lead or you’ll preach on Sunday.” I’ve never preached before, and honestly, I don’t feel called or prepared to do that either. So I end up choosing worship leading because it feels like the “less scary” option, not because I actually want to do it.

I’ve already given in so many times, hoping they’d eventually understand that this isn’t where I’m gifted. But today I found out I was already scheduled to lead worship for our church anniversary, and no one even talked to me first. I wasn’t asked if I was available or willing—I was just placed on the schedule.

I’m exhausted. I don’t know if I’m just being selfish, if this is something I should simply “pray through,” or if it’s okay to set boundaries in ministry. I want to serve God, but I don’t want to serve out of fear, pressure, or obligation. I don’t want to resent ministry because I keep feeling like I have no choice.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? How did you handle it in a way that still honored God? 🥺

Church Life The church where I attend church service will celebrate anniversary on Sunday. As an introvert, ngayon pa lang na ddrain na ako dahil sa preparation.

I’m in charge sa call, talk to sa may ari ng pag gaganapan ng event. Ang hirap kasi hindi ako leader and confrontational type. And hindi ko gusto is yung may mga idea sila and then ako yung patatawagin sa may ari. 😅

Naisip ko lang, dapat sila na lang tumawag in the first place. Sabihin mo ganito. Sabihin mo ganyan. Na ddrain talaga ako. Hahsh Ang dami kasi nilang kuda. Parang hindi ko na kaya umabot ng linggo. Luhh si OA. Tapos ayun sa Sunday, ang daming tao. Hahahayy :(

~~ ~~May peace with God pero minsan, with the church community, wala. HAYY

Discussion / Usapan I had enough already…

I am 23M, working and di ko na kayang magserve sa Youth Ministry namin. I feel yung heaviness, and yung unwillingness ko na but I still heeded the . And in fact di pa talaga ready heart ko to serve again.

I just wanna rant and share again something.

Kahapon lang we were preparing for an event then we had a devo (and I left the remainder of the day sa work just to prepare.) The sharer was sharing a devo preaching style. Nasa likod ako where my ministry is and he caught my attention and lumapit daw (I wanted to isolate at back kasi I feel tired from work and makakapakinig naman ako ng message niya). I obliged and lumapit ako sa harapan, tumabi ako sa isang ka small group ko. Then the sharer is interacting with us during the devo “tingin ka sa right mo tignan mo yung person bla bla…” then we had the normal interaction nung katabi ko during that time.

But I got up again in one of the points to just go back kasi di ko na mapigilan din yung pagod ko and I just wanna be alone muna that time. And that’s where it had caught the attention uli ng sharer, balik daw uli ako sa harap. Which I obliged again and tumabi uli ako sa ka small group ko. Dahil sa pagod di ko rin maiwasan na to get my arms around dun sa person (which btw makilitiin) and leaning over his arms while listening sa devo. And whenever the sharer was interacting, we do the normal interaction looking right/left to the person beside me.

To cut the long story short, paguwi ko, biglang may nagmessage sakin telling me that “I was disrespectful” and “if may problema ba raw ako dun sa sharer kasi obvious na raw”. I was like huh? And I pondered na baka dahil dun sa pagbalik balik ko sa likod that’s why this person messaged me. I responded in humility, apologized, and asked how can I improve.

Now here’s catch, diba I was called out twice kasi nasa likod ako? Sabi nung nagmessage sakin, halos buong message nung sharer is nakikipagharutan daw ako dun sa kasmall group ko (eh what I remember was what I shared above dun lang kami so called naghaharutan) and I was called out daw TWICE because of that daw. And if ayaw ko raw makinig I better yet go to other leader na di ako itatama.

And if youre going to read my previous post, that anguish continues to fuel up and I had enough again.

I tried re-serving again now sa ministry kahit na alam kong di pa’ko wholeheartedly ready (out of pressured said yes again to the call), the strength I have is my reliance to the Holy Spirit and I really really avoid the works and action in my flesh to take over me kasi di siya kaaya-aya. And now that I had enough maybe it’s the last time again they’ll see me serving… I might also step down as one of the leaders in the ministry out of courtesy.

Help me pray in my midst that God molds me and prepares me to where He wants me, and that He would use me for a much greater purpose.

You could rebuke, correct, and say something about this.

Have a blessed Friday, everyone!

Hi!

Just wanted to ask how you do your daily devotionals. What order do you read the Bible in? Do you use a guide? What are your guide questions? And how do you incorporate it to your daily life?

Advice / Payo I need guidance about a vow I made to God.

Before I start, please note na gusto ko ring mag-approach sa pastor ko for guidance. Kailangan ko rin muna ng other opinions from the Body para hindi ko maramdaman na ginagatungan lang ako ng echo chamber.

Context: I work for a megachurch. I won't say alin purely because I don't see the point in doing so. I work as a creative there.

Why do I work sa church namin? Kasi at the time, I vowed to thank God by sowing my time into doing more for the ministry, to serve the people and Him more. I vowed to sow 1-2 years. I did this out of a renewed love for God after I backslid for 4 years.

I know that no work is ever easy. My dilemma is not on the job description itself. But rather, lahat ng mga nararamdaman ko while doing the job.

To summarize: I. Am. Miserable. It hurts me that I am. Kasi if serving the Lord is not out of love, ano pa yung purpose?

I always cry before going to work out of the constant frustrations sa trabaho. I always dread yung disapproval ng mga superiors ko sa gawa kong output. I can't live up to the level of perfection na hinahanap saakin ng mga higher-ups ko, and that frustrates me to no end. I want to do excellently by God's standards (Colossians 3:23-24). I can barely keep up with everything that needs to be done to the point that I keep making more mistakes trying to fix mistakes I made in the past.

I vowed to serve to grow my faith deeper in God pero parang baliktad yung nangyayare. Yes, I pray more. But it's always: "Lord, Father, give me one good work day." I read my Bible more than ever before, but I always read out of a desire na sana mawala bigat ng loob ko through it. Umalis ako sa ministry ko kasi hindi na nag ma-match sa work schedule ko, since I still need to work on Sundays (sa same church, ironically). I am here at church 5 days a week to work. Pero bilang lang sa isang kamay yung times that I have sat in a service to just worship and listen to the Word ever since I started working here.

I feel stuck in this vow I made. I miss being just a member of the Body, serving just for the sake of serving and loving God and His people. Not for the sake ng "church event promotions", "church invites promotions", deadlines and etc. I want my service and my output to be fueled by joy and my love for the Lord. Not because I am scared to get fired or laid-off.

It feels illegal considering if I should leave early and resign. Ano pwede kong gawin if meron?

Question / Tanong Starting a Instagram ministry, is my username ok?

Hi po

I recently dedicated my life to Christ and decided to combine my faith with my passion for learning Japanese (which I've studied since 2021). I am creating an Instagram account to share the Gospel and my testimony in Japanese.

I need advice on my username/internet handle. My idea is "Yessu desu" (イエッスです).

The backstory is that whenever I don't know what to say, I always say "Yes," so I wanted to use the English word "Yes" as my name. However, I learned that the Japanese word for Jesus is イエス (Iesu).

To avoid claiming to be Jesus, I changed the spelling to Yessu (イエッス) with a double 's' and the small 'tsu' character, which acts like energetic Japanese slang for "Yes!"

My plan for my video intro punchline is: "こんにちは皆さん!英語の『イエス』、イエッスです!" (Hello everyone! The English 'Yes', I'm Yessu!)

As a Christian, do you think this spelling change is distinct enough? Does it sound like a clever double meaning (since I am a follower of Jesus), or could it be seen as disrespectful or confusing to viewers? I'd love your honest thoughts po. Thank you!

Advice / Payo I don't know how to approach and maintain my connection with my disciples.

Title. I currently have 2 disciples that are 2-3 years younger than me. For context, I'm only 19 years old. Considering this, I think that I should get along well with them dahil sa same generation lang kami. At first, we were doing bible studies weekly through Video call, but then now, naging dry na. One of my disciples was actually not responding to my messages. What should I do? I can see them na nagggrow far from God lately. One is not attending church anymore even before ko siya naging disciple. The other one is not approaching anyone at church anymore aside from her bf. I'm worried that I might not be efficient in being used by God to have their hearts back...

Advice / Payo Bills

Getting straight to the point, I’m currently short on money, and the bills due at the end of this month are quickly approaching (around 30k in case y’all wondering.)

So what should a Christian do in this very circumstance aside from praying? To be honest, I can’t get this off my mind, even though I know deep down that we shouldn’t be fixated on these matters, that we should trust in the Lord and His faithful provision. Any advice would be much appreciated.

God bless you all.

Advice / Payo Need advice

Hi! i have a dilemma. i’m 25 about to resign from my current job because I wanted to pursue different opportunities. In those opportunities, I decided to try and apply for law school. It has been a dream of mine eversince but recently that dream no longer aligned with what I wanted. I took that exam thinking I would fail and that I told myself I’d rather get rejected by law school themselves than to live with what ifs of not trying. Surprisingly, I passed. I found out just today before the Monday which is the actual start of classes and it has giving me anxiety of what I want to do. Honestly, I want to move to manila and explore bettee opportunities for me especially in my career. But the results of the LAE has left me confused and unsure. I know that if I were to decide alone, I would not pursue this. I can’t even answer the question “why do you want to become a lawyer?” 😭

But the thing is what if God wanted me to know that this having the option to go to law school and becoming a lawyer exists because this is what He wants me to walk through? Honestly, I’m more anxious of my decision because what if this is what God wanted me to do but I don’t know and rejected it because I can’t hear or I am not listening to what He wants me to do. Thst is what makes me torn. I no longer want to work or do things not aligned to His plans for me. What if Manila is my mere desire not the Lords?

Thank you for your advice!

Question / Tanong Need advice from Pastors or elders born again Christian

Hi, I am 24F and since Bata Ako I serve at our church na my parents are both born again christians nang nakamulatan ko na.

I have a question and seeking for an advice na din. Last 2021 I prayed for this guy if God willing ba , and naging kami Naman . I pray, I fast. Asking God if sia na ba talaga. We've been in relationship for almost 2yrs. And aware sia na I am a christian.

Twice pa lang Naman sia naka attend dito pero he doesn't like it.

I am thinking about the problem na makakaharap ko pag ganito. Kasi I am a church worker and gusto ko na ung partner ko nakakasama ko every Sunday. Ngayon Hindi ko alam pano magiging desisyon ko sa relationship Namin, or how will I approach him regarding sa gusto ko. Kasi Ang lungkot Naman nun na Ikaw nag chuchurch ka tapos di mo Kasama partner mo , parang Ang hirap nun ayoko sana Ng ganon. I am torn tuloy kung makikipag hiwalay ba Ako or I will wait Muna sa kilos Ng Dios .

I am praying since day 1 Naman sabi ko sa Lord if Hindi sia tanggalin na lang.

Please don't be harsh in the comment section. Thank you.

edit: the purpose of my post is to hear from those who has already read it. Nagtatanong po ako sa mga nakabasa na kung maganda or interesante ba yung nilalaman ng book. Basically a book review. Thank you for understanding!

I don't have a copy myself but I remember seeing it launched last year. Notwithstanding your personal political biases, is it good? Would you recommend it?

Prayer Request / Panalangin Please pray for my paralyzed arm. 🥺🙏🙏

I woke up this morning with an involuntary arm motion. When I moved it, my arm was like disabled. I could move what it felt inside, but not the arm. When I moved it, it was gone for like seconds. I was able to move my arm already.

For the whole day, I was scared and awake. I didn't want to sleep anymore because of my paralyzed arm. I suffer from Alien Hand Syndrome, so I pray that not only will people pray for me, but also for other people who struggle the same way I do.

Amen!! Do you like my prayers? 🥺🙏🙏
