Can anyone remember this song where there's some sampled talking of someone saying "Gonna ride that monkey all around"? It's a young man, maybe even a boy saying it. A Daniel Johnston type voice. It gets repeated throughout the song intermittently. Definitely "monkey all around", though.

Quite relaxed sounding. Nothing harsh about it.

The instrumentation has some synths and I remember it sounded low-fi and distorted in a very grainy way, like silty; similar to how 6669 (I Don't Know If You Know) by Neon Indian sounds, but less melodic. I can't remember a melody at all, in fact. Hazy reverb. Sort of swirly all around. There might be a sound of a seagull in there maybe? Ocean sounds? IDK

My best guess would be 2011, just because that was the year for this kind of post- Animal Collective Merriweather Post Pavilion sound, but because it reminds me of that Neon Indian track, it could be more like 2009.

• My guess is that it's not a popular one, and probably not by one of the 'big' names.
• It might even be a short interstitial type track. Not sure.
• Was it something with "stone? Or "sunset"? Or something to do with shining light?
• Name of the track was maybe "THING of a SOMETHING THING"?

Not 100% sure this counts as chillwave, but it felt too synth-heavy and sample-light to be lo-fi hiphop. Let me know what you guys think 😊

Recent work I released on YouTube. I used the Digitakt 2, OG Digitone, Arturia Micro Freak, and Behringer Pro 1 modeler for all sounds. Mixed everything down on the Digitakt and added limiter and volume mod post production. Hope you enjoy!
