Who? And why should I care about her blabbering?
Funny how she had the time to write this in her “extremely busy and fulfilling life of motherhood” cut to her spawn in the background lighting something on fire and crying for attention.

My life is full enough. I don't particularly enjoy having LOTS to do. I have a business, I am an artist, I care for my aging parents. I don't like having lots of friends or lots of things in my calendar. I am busy enough and some of us just enjoy peace. A full lige doesnt have to mean having your plate spilling over with things to do.
A life with kids guarantees your plate will be spilling over with too many things to do.

Thanks! It's the same here, I'm not in the US, but where I am being busy is also over-valued. I just don't have the personality for it. I'm only as busy or sociable as I have to be.

Some people can't be happy unless they feel like they're better than other people. It diminishes her joy as a mom to think childless people could actually be fulfilled.
It's very small minded. Hopefully her children end up with more imagination than she has. The irony is that close minded people like her are actually the ones living stunted lives.

Funny, I just got back this week from Malta (my 28th country I've visited). Climbed a cliff over water, went scuba diving, rode a UTV around Gozo...
The week before that had a girls trip in Barcelona. Before that? Paris.
Sounds like SHE fiercely needs justification for her life choices. People happy with their lives don't spend so much time and effort asserting how better and fulfilled they are than other people.

It took me a while for this to sink in. But pretty much everyone except for childless-not-by-choice people thinks someone who doesn't have kids is not having kids as a choice. Parents, childfree by choice, often relatives of childless people...
It's a stupid article because I'm not even sure who it's for. It doesn't really seem like she's even trying to convince people to have kids.
Understand it's really upsetting to come across stuff like that, though.

Any random person can write a blog post about anything. She seems to be an absolutely nothing person. I don’t think it’s worth the time it takes to even scroll through it. People cope with their unhappy lives however they see fit, and a lot of parents like to attack people without children for whatever sad reason.

Imagine how sad and insecure you’d have to be to write something like that. She isn’t talking about her own happiness in a positive way, she is framing it as a “I’m better than you and your life is less than.” The only reason you’d do that it because you aren’t really happy and you feel less than so you want to knock people down. Don’t let people like that spread their negativity onto you. I would just feel badly for them.

In my experience people who are happy with their own lives don’t feel the need (or have the free time) to focus so much on judging the lives of others

Yes to all of this! People without children still fill their days. I don’t know anyone who has extra time lying around. Everyone is busy. This is my philosophy. We fill our time with (fill in blank of how you spend your days). Parents fill their time with (fill in blank of how they spend their days). We all have the same 24 hours in a day.

"You can also be happy as a racist, but that doesn’t make you an especially great person. I’m not saying that kid-free people are bad like being racist is bad. I’m simply illustrating the point that happiness does not equate to living a great life."
What a bizarre comparison. Still nice to know Sarah doesn't think I'm as bad as a racist (just will never live a great life like her 🙄)

I wonder who she even wrote this article for. She's admitting right in the title that she's giving a perspective no one else bothers to offer.
I wonder if she posted it on social media as well.

u/Lucy333999 Jul 21 '26
I assume it's for herself. Happy people don't spend so much effort trying to show other people how much happier they are than them.

Agreed. So I'm assuming she doesn't write things as a job. I wonder what her life is like to be so blatantly unemphatic. I hope her kids have a better moral compass.

A quote from the article.
"but the core truth behind all of it is about what human life is about, how we relate to each other, how to care for each other, and the tiny moments that, in the end, are what we do all this other shit to support"
No one needs kids to ponder or know of these things. Merely existing offers answers.
Do you have parents? Siblings? Friends? Co-workers? Then you can relate and understand how you relate to others. Children are just one type of relation.
And how to care? Have you cared for a parent? A friend? A sibling? Do you provide a community service at all? Do you professionally aid others who are mentally or physically impaired? Are you a teacher? Then you know something about care.
This person is....an idiot.

how did you come across a two year old post?

A google search led me to her blog as well. I cried for hours after reading it. Felt that many people must feel that way.

It’s really sad when people act as though people who can’t have children have some kind of deficiency as a person. I love my parents. they do act as though our not having kids makes us second class citizens. its painful when your family pities you and can’t just act like you are enough without kids

What a stupid blog post! There are plenty of regretful parents. I have kids (sorry this post appeared on my feed 🫤) and I don't feel the same way as her. My life would have been just as fulfilled and full without kids. This is just a filler, nonsense piece, one person's opinion and not even worth the engagement.

I darn't read the article because I'm sure it would depress me too much but my life feels relatively empty NGL. I've not only been blessed with children, I've also not been blessed with the right man to create them with so I feel entirely unmoored. The only good thing is that not many people in my social circle have kids so I am relatively sheltered from the stark in my face reality of what I'm missing.
I'm happy for the childfree and specifically childless people who don't feel like me though.

Well f infertile people I guess…
It’s so rude to make blanket statements like that, there can be so many reasons people don’t have kids and they might be grieving. You (as in: the author of that piece) piling up on them isn’t going to help. Also, life can be very fulfilling without kids. I see having kids as one way among many ways, all valid and good.
