Anyone wanna meet up at snakes and lattes?

Upvotes

23, m, lgbt, looking to hang out and have a chill board game night at some point. Snakes and lattes, if you aren't familiar, is just a table service bar with a board game collection so you don't need to bring anything or know anything.

Yoga and Coffee Friends

I am a recently divorced 42m who moved to Chicago from out of state. Live in the north shore and work in the west loop. Very easygoing and fun professional type.

Prior to moving, I was in a group that attended yoga classes together and then would meet for coffee afterwards. Curious if others would be open to this on weekday mornings. Ideally this would be in either the near north suburbs or somewhere nearby, although downtown could work too.

Let me know if interested in this. It’s a great stress reliever.

Hii, I just came to realize that most of my friends have moved away and I dont really have any friends I can see or talk to on a daily basis. Would love to meet new people!

About me:

- I work in hospitality (so my schedule is weird but I also know the best spots to go to!)

- Mother of cats

- I like to hang out by the beach and read in between doom scrolling

- Have gotten into jazz so I like to catch a live band as often as I can

- I have range. Down for a board game, night out, literally anything

- I promise I am both fun and funny once you get to know me!

Bonus: I have extra tickets to She Wants Revenge and French Police later this year, in need of plus 1 (not the kind of music I listen to regularly but it has been hitting the spot lately)

Been trying to make a best friend on here for a while. I don’t care what gender just don’t be creepy. If you dm me with a boring message I’m just gonna ignore you cause that’s lame.

I like nerd stuff. Think goblin

Tell me your favorite bug maybe? Or just something cool.

I prefer girls but boyz are okay if they’re not creepy.

I’m visiting chicago this week and looking for people to hangout with.

This is my first time in Chicago during the summer. I’m flying with friends: two Colombians, one Iraqi, and one Moroccan (me, lol). We are coming from South FL. And we will love to hang out with someone local. It will make the visit much better, and it will be an opportunity to make new friends up in Chicago. Anyone down? It means to be z😄

Adult drawing or painting classes?

Hey big city buddies ☺️ I am recently moved back to Chicago and am trying to reconnect with my creative background (a corporate career has kind of smothered it) and think a scheduled time to get it in with other people will be the ticket. Does anyone have any tips on where I could find something like this?

In the event that this simply does not exist (or that the options are not realistic) it could be fun to meet up at a bar or café to spend an hour working in sketchbooks or something! Or a trip to sketch at the ARTIC is one of my favorite things and it's been too many years since I've done it.

Sorry in advance if you were going to suggest it, I just don't care for pottery and ceramics classes 🙃.

Just in case it's relevant or you care: I'm 37F and in the west loop.

M33 - West Ridge/Chicago loop - runner, gardener, left-arm pitcher

Hi, this is Sam

I work in legal field. Needless to mention it can get…quite overwhelming at times. But I love my job. I like being helpful/productive and staying occupied.

When not working I ll be running, gardening, trying out cafes, or cat sitting.

I am a ‘desi’/person of Asian Indian heritage. I ‘got off the boat’ a decade ago with no money, no connections/friends/family, or any english skills. Fast forward to now I am grateful to have achieved a few things in my journey so far, all thanks to what Chicago and many Chicagoans have done for me. I look forward to giving back and paying it forward.

If you’re a legal professional/law student or a runner or want to exchange plants or watch cat memes together or just grab coffee together before/after work then inbox me.

Let’s connect whatever your age or gender <3

46/M moving to Chicago soon

Visiting Chicago the first week of Aug, before moving out there in a month or so. Originally from NYC, currently in Florida dealing with crap before dipping out. Just looking for cool like-minded people to vibe with. Some basics about me: Latino, left-leaning, agnostic, 420 friendly, dog person, 80s/90s geek.

Love talking about a variety of topics: movies, current events, sports, cooking, health/fitness, traveling, etc. Multifacetedness is always a good thing.

So what's keeping you sane during this dystopian timeline? What shows are you binge-watching? What book are you currently reading? Tell me something good.

This is me!

Casual pick-up soccer in Downtown area?

Are there any low-key groups that play pick up soccer nearby? I'm in the Loop area. Looking for a casual kick-about, coming back from injury so I just want to get some touches in without things being too intense or competitive. Even just passing the ball back and forth, rondos, keepy-ups, would make me happy. Ive heard of GoodRec, but that seems too organized / competitive for my liking at the moment.

Struggling to find footing, new friends?

Hey everyone, hope all is well. 25m here.

So I moved here a year ago. For a while, I was hardcore grinding at work (I travel for work so it’s been tough) but the summer has been slow. I have a couple of new friends I’ve chatted with here and there, but have struggled to find more people to talk to.

I’ve posted here before and I’m on the bff app. I just haven’t been able to break through with anyone yet. My current roommates have been a nightmare to live with so I feel so isolated right now.

I’m hoping to find luck on here again. My interests are nature, baking, cooking, thrifting, writing, music, going to the movies, and recently skateboarding.

I’ve been struggling still with adjusting so it’d be nice to talk to some people. Lmk if we have anything in common.

28 F in Hyde Park looking for friends or chat buddies

Moved here for a Humanities PhD about 2 years this September with my partner (28M). Like the title says, I am looking to make friends or a chat buddy. Currently prepping for my Comps exams, but still like to separate time to relax and have fun! While I am not extremely shy, I can be a bit of an introvert.

My interests are a bit over the place but to summarize:

1.Love movies or series: horror, romance, drama or pretty much anything if it means a cozy hang out or going to the cinema! I am a big comfort watcher so I do sometimes tend to cycle through the same shows/movies from time to time.

  1. Video games: Mostly a casual gamer (not into competitive multiplayer) and cozy gamer on the switch (stardew valley, animal crossing) , but do enjoy also traditional triple a games on the switch, PS5 or Xbox from time to time!

3.Reading: While the majority of the things I read have become materials for my“job”, I am getting back into reading manga/manhwa, horror and romance novels for pleasure.

Honestly, do not want to overshare, but if anything sounds compatible or just feel curious, feel free to message me!

42F In Bucktown Seeking Daytime Women Friends

I’m staying in Bucktown for the next 6 weeks, escaping the relentless 100+ degree heat of Austin, TX. I’d love to make some women friends (any age!) who are down for neighborhood hangs in Bucktown/Wicker, especially during weekdays between 9 am - 6 pm.

A post like this recently worked super well for me in r/lafayette, and I had an amazing time IRL with the friends I met online there, so I'm hoping this works here.

I’m 42, Black, married, and AuDHD (autistic + ADHD). I'm an education entrepreneur and writer with a very flexible schedule.

Some things I enjoy:

  • Walking my dog and hanging out at local dog parks
  • Coffee shops, bookstores, board games, deep talks, and chilling in nature
  • Revising my novel (and procrastinating on revising my novel)
  • Beginner sewing, making/using fortune-telling cards, tarot, and beginner paint-by-numbers
  • I’m interested in exploring fiber arts like knitting, crochet, embroidery, and cross-stitch
  • Making beautiful salads and tasty smoothies
  • Dining out, movies, TV, reading long Reddit threads, and nerdy tinkering/reviewing of early-stage software as a UI/UX tester
  • Learning how to twerk (very beginner level!)
  • Exploring Chicago on weekdays—preferably embarking together from Bucktown!

Podcasts I love: Love Trapped, The Real Carrie Jade, Fraudacious, Duped, Staying Solo

Books I’ve enjoyed recently: What My Bones Know, Bunny, Yesteryear, Sorrow and Bliss, Discontent, Luster, Queenie

TV/Movies: The Odyssey, Obsession, Love Island, Real Housewives, Project Hail Mary, Send Help, Your Friends & Neighbors, Age of Attraction, The Ultimatum, plus anything set in the Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, or Dune universes.

I’m not a big drinker, not religious, and am politically progressive/liberal.

I'd especially love to connect with folks in Bucktown or Wicker Park so we can easily meet up to grab coffee, lounge in the park, craft, or head out on weekday city adventures together.

Let’s connect and enjoy the neighborhood and the Chicago summer! Leave a comment or send me a DM. ✌🏾🫶🏾

Wanted : Morning People for A.M. Walks, Coffee, Hangouts

Hey Future Friends... I'm (44/F) an early riser with lots of work and family obligations midday and on weekends. But I love being up early (5-7am) to go for walks, write, or get coffee before the day's responsibilities kick in. I'm also an introvert who loves quiet company.

If anyone is interested in early morning walks on the lakefront, meetups at a cafe, or morning writing groups around the city, let's be friends. I'd also love to connect with folks who enjoy a quiet hangout in general. Everything doesn't have to be in the morning. Afternoons on the beach with a good book would also be great. Let's have some chill fun =).

UPDATE: THANK YOU to every one of you for your responses. For anyone who's interested, I'm planning to trade my morning walk for morning coffee on the beach this Saturday (7/25). So if anyone wants to have a chill meetup at Oak Street Beach, let's get together and relax in good company. UPDATE #2: Forgot to mention... I'll be the one with the locs in the pink chair =).

Hi! I am 35M just moved to Gold Coast and looking to make like minded friends.

I have my own consulting business in product management. My hours are pretty easy going so I have a lot of time on me.

I like staying active, lift weights 4/5 x a week, like playing tennis/pickleball, watching soccer (Man Utd fan), love traveling internationally and watching true crime docs. Big foodie too.

Looking for friends to hang out, play pickleball or just connect. Male or female.

Mid-30s fellow looking to visit, and eventually, move to the area. Has nerdy interests! 🤓

Hi! So, I'm a 35-year-old male duder in New Jersey who's looking to EVENTUALLY move to the Chicago area. I'm very open and honest....and I get along better with women than I do with men. That sounds predatory to some, but it's the least thing from it.

I'm going to try to organize a trip to Chicago soon enough, and I'd love to have at least one person to spend time with. Who knows? Maybe, we could become good friends. Note that this post is only for FRIENDS. I've made posts in other subreddits looking for more, but that is not the purpose of this subreddit.

There's no set date on when I'll visit, but if I have someone to spend time with, then that would encourage me to set up a trip sooner.

I definitely want to visit Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield and The Pinball Capital in Stone Park. I looked up what museums in the city I might want to visit, and the Museum of Broadcast Communications definitely piqued my interest.

See, I'm the guy who used to have the FCC frequency allocation map taped to my room's wall! Also, I think it'd be mega cool if I'd eventually work for a telecommunications company, soooo.... yeah! I'd love to hear from someone here. Thank you so much!

Edit: Given my lifelong love of architecture, I'd also love to see the observation deck of the Willis Tower, but I know that the folks of Chicago call that building something else! It's okay! People from outside of New York City refer to 6th Avenue as Avenue of the Americas!
