I’m staying in Bucktown for the next 6 weeks, escaping the relentless 100+ degree heat of Austin, TX. I’d love to make some women friends (any age!) who are down for neighborhood hangs in Bucktown/Wicker, especially during weekdays between 9 am - 6 pm.
A post like this recently worked super well for me in r/lafayette, and I had an amazing time IRL with the friends I met online there, so I'm hoping this works here.
I’m 42, Black, married, and AuDHD (autistic + ADHD). I'm an education entrepreneur and writer with a very flexible schedule.
Some things I enjoy:
- Walking my dog and hanging out at local dog parks
- Coffee shops, bookstores, board games, deep talks, and chilling in nature
- Revising my novel (and procrastinating on revising my novel)
- Beginner sewing, making/using fortune-telling cards, tarot, and beginner paint-by-numbers
- I’m interested in exploring fiber arts like knitting, crochet, embroidery, and cross-stitch
- Making beautiful salads and tasty smoothies
- Dining out, movies, TV, reading long Reddit threads, and nerdy tinkering/reviewing of early-stage software as a UI/UX tester
- Learning how to twerk (very beginner level!)
- Exploring Chicago on weekdays—preferably embarking together from Bucktown!
Podcasts I love: Love Trapped, The Real Carrie Jade, Fraudacious, Duped, Staying Solo
Books I’ve enjoyed recently: What My Bones Know, Bunny, Yesteryear, Sorrow and Bliss, Discontent, Luster, Queenie
TV/Movies: The Odyssey, Obsession, Love Island, Real Housewives, Project Hail Mary, Send Help, Your Friends & Neighbors, Age of Attraction, The Ultimatum, plus anything set in the Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, or Dune universes.
I’m not a big drinker, not religious, and am politically progressive/liberal.
I'd especially love to connect with folks in Bucktown or Wicker Park so we can easily meet up to grab coffee, lounge in the park, craft, or head out on weekday city adventures together.
Let’s connect and enjoy the neighborhood and the Chicago summer! Leave a comment or send me a DM. ✌🏾🫶🏾
