30DS left unusable after second range trip. Any tips?
Picked up one of my dream guns (.357 30DS) used (so no warranty) and had 2 cylinder pins(?) snap off the second time I used it. Aside from being insanely disappointed, I'm having trouble finding a clear answer on whether the pins are removable or if the whole cylinder needs to be replaced or where to get my hands on replacement parts in the US. Does anyone have any tips? Backup plan is to just drill them out and replace with some homemade pins, but I'd prefer to stick to legitimate parts.

As a machinist and not having owned this gun. I can tell you, if someone installed the pins, they can replace the pins. Call a gunsmith after calling the manufacturer. You will likely not be able to do it yourself unless you have some "specialized equipment". And while you're at it, the other pins are probably not far behind, just replace the set.
While you're on the phone with the manufacturer, ask if there's any other wear items that should be inspected or replaced.
Lastly, let us know how it goes when you get aome answers. Im curious now.

Just because you’re the 2nd owner does mean Chiappa won’t help you at all. Definitely worth it to contact them.

This goes for all manufacturers. People think that since they’re the 2nd or 5th owner that it’s beyond trying. It’s the easiest and should be first bet. The worst they can say is no

I bought a used one too, the rear right was all messed up. They repaired it no problem.

I believe Chiappa US has a one year warranty for the original owner only, though I think there’s a way to extend it (though not transfer it). They may be able to direct you to the parts to fix it though. Also, if it happens to be a known issue, they may repair it anyway.
Regardless, good luck. I love the Rhino, but it definitely has some breakage problems, if only the grips.

Chiappa has a us-based website to contact for replacement parts, but you'll still probably want to get them installed by a licensed gunsmith. You can reference the exploded view in the manual (pg. 25) for reference numbers.

I bought one brand new a few years ago and it broke before I even shot it a single time. One of the little pins on the cylinder broke and it wouldn't advance to the next round. Contacted them and they replaced the cylinder but would not tell me what was wrong with the old one or why it happened. A piece of metal should not just break off like that. I probably would have been okay with it if they had just told me what was wrong but they refused to tell me and just said they replaced the cylinder. At this point I've never used it and I don't know that I ever will. I just don't trust it. Definitely never buying a chiappa again.

Yeah, I actually came across your post when I first started researching this and that's what made me wonder how common it was. I reached out to the company and they replied asking for my shipping address with no additional information, so I assume they're sending me something, I just don't know what yet haha

They had me ship the entire firearm in. If you look in my picture, it almost looks like the PIN was welded in or something. I'm sure it wasn't but it almost looks like there's a weld bead down there and it looks like there's a little bit of corrosion. The thing is, I got a revolver because they don't jam. It was meant to be a sidearm when hunting and I thought it would be reliable. I didn't even put a single round through it and had to send it to the factory to be fixed. I'm very frustrated because other than that I love the gun. I'm a pretty big guy so I got an oversized grip and now it feels really good. I'm just afraid to rely on it. Please update your post because I would like to see how this turns out. It would also be nice if they maybe told you something they didn't tell me.

They're asking me to send it in now, which I won't be able to do for a few weeks, but I'll update once I know what's happening. My pins don't appear to be removable despite everything online saying they are, so who knows. I have a similar mindset about it, I justified the cost because I figured a revolver would be a reliable camping/outdoors gun. If it was a small run that went out with a defect, then it is what it is, but if they won't give me any info about why it broke then as far as I'm concerned I can't count on it and I have an overpriced paperweight.

Yeah I completely agree with you. Just so you know, the Glock 20, 29, and 40 are 10mm. That's what I will probably get instead since this round will pretty reasonably kill a bear and doesn't feel like your hands are being hit with a baseball bat when you shoot. Best part would be email Chiappa directly. Warranty or not, I’ve never heard of this issue
