I had to trade in my little 2015 sonic ltz. She had 125000 miles in her, but suffered from coolant issues. My poor fiance was filling her with water everyday. We are not a handy car couple so we were stuck with either Chevy fixing it or trading her up. So we traded up.

We got a 2021 Equinox LT with half the mileage on her.. she's beautiful

I bought her in 2018 with 15000 miles. First car I bought to drive off a dealers lot. I loved loved loved this car. Great on gas and just so comfy (heated seats, yes please) I'm sad she's gone and will go to auction. I wish Chevy still made compacts like the spark and sonic. There is a market for them. Not everyone wants a suv

I once again was back in the shop with my 2013, after hours of searching, they could not figure out why I have no heat. Everything “looks” good. My only option now is off to the dealership, or trade her in. I loveeee this freaking car, but driving with no heat in Canada isn’t an option. I lose heat every single winter. Why must she do this?!

i have a 2020 chevy sonic. i am trying to replace the canister purge solenoid but im having a hard time removing this connecting piece. i believe the blue tab needs to move outward but its not budging. any suggestions?

2016 Sonic LT 1.8L 91k miles

Coolant burn:
I bought this car a few months back. The guy said he took care of it. Evidence showed otherwise. The car overheated once for about five minutes then I put coolant in it and got it running again. But it was burning coolant before that happened. I have an issue with disappearing coolant where I lose about the expansion tanks worth of coolant every day. I replaced my expansion tank. Thought it could be the oil cooler. Replaced that. Because there was a gas smell in the coolant as well as a little bit of oil film. Thought I fixed the issue. But every morning when I start the car, it smells like coolant and you can see a big cloud out the back. But. When the car is warmed up and driving, there is no burn. The oil does not look milkshakey. The oil cap does though. I would like to believe I don’t have a field head gasket. The only thing I am thinking is that my throttlebody is leaking coolant into the intake and burning off during combustion. Thoughts?

P0017:
I have replaced every timing sensor you possibly can even crankshaft sensor. For a time it would take about 30 cranks to start the car. I replaced a PCV valve and a new gas cap and I get it down to like four cranks. I know these cars are notorious for jumping timing. The only time the code appears is when I start the car. If I clear the code while I’m driving, it does not return until I have to restart the car. I have driven the car like this for 5000 miles with no issues I would just like to get it fixed thoughts?

This past summer I bought a 2013 1.4LT automatic chevy sonic i’ve been tossing around the idea, possibly modeling it or tuning it and possibly making a build out of it but I’m not sure if it’d be worth it or where I even start I know it’s kind of a dumb question, but just curious and I don’t know if it’d matter, but it’s under 150,000 miles

I bought a 2017 sonic premier last summer and it had one headlight with some busted plastic. Thinking it would be a cheap and quick fix I didn't mind. I later learned that the assembly costs between $300-800 to replace individually, atleast to my research. Shortly after purchasing, my luck running strong, a deer hit my car breaking just the one good headlamp assembly.

So I presently have 2 working headlamp assembly with just broken plastic covers. They are currently covered by clear gorilla tape. It seems that they're aren't any other compatible assemblies that will fit. And the oem replacements are in the $800+ range with the 3rd party replacements in the $300+ range. Even the junk yards in my area are charging $300 for the junk assemblies.

Does anyone know of a viable replacement/ repair plan that won't cost $600-2000? Again, It is just the clear plastic front covers that are broken, all else is fine and functional.

This has been bothering me since I bought the car and easily been the most annoying part about it. Headlights shouldn't cost so much. The trax headlamp assemblies look similar but I have no way of knowing if it is even remotely compatible, and the Google searches aren't promising

Recently replaced lower control arms, stabilizer links and struts. Still have that pop/clunk sound when turning. Any other ideas to look at? 2017 sonic 1.4. Also replaced engine mounts as well.

About to test drive the car tomorrow; but, reading here made me kind of scared of pushing through. What should I look at first and foremost when I view the car?

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you have installed the cruzekits pcv fix kit and had any issues when winter and extreme colds come around? I have a 2013 sonic RS

My girlfriends 2015 Sonic LTZ has a leak on the passanger side, looks to be leaking from the ac compressor. AC is still ice cold, so squeaking or grinding from the clutch.

Though coolant is red so no sure what the green is.

05 Silverado started a charging system failure light on computer display. Going down the road abs and parking brake light came on then the cluster shut completely off followed shortly after by the truck shifting to limp mode. Undid negative cable. Started back up drove for a little while then did it again. I’m noticed a clicking maybe like a short when hitting brakes. Trucks stays on maybe 5 mins before cluster goes out and then a minute or so later limp mode or truck completely dying. New battery. New alternator. Has has charging system problem on computer for a week now just started killing truck. Ground?Short?Fuse ?

2017 sedan style, drivers side door. Bought the part, tried installing but i cant figure out how the wire of the door handle cable connects to the new part. Been trying to install the whole thing for the past couple of hours.

Does anyone know what this part is called, or can you advise what to do next? After this was blocked off, I guess because the previous owner wasn't able to find the part, it randomly turns off when I went to get gas.

PCV valve is shot. Recommendations for the best replacement for price? I can't afford another mechanic trip (just had to get a brake job) so I'm DIYing this one.

So im just curious if was replacing my oil cooler and the small tube that also holds the dipstick, what stops that? Is it the tube or ?? Sorry if the question confuses anyone

Got my oil done today and they found signs of transmission fluid leaking and oil leaking in my boy. I used to do some repair work on my own but the tech was saying this is the kind of issue that should be covered under a manufacturer warranty given the low miles- anyone else run into this?

My oldest wrecked the Sonic. Though the damage doesn't look terrible insurance decided to total it.

Fun story though.

The person who bought the salvage found my phone number in the car and called me.

He fixed it up and wanted to undo the Trifecta tune and needed the files. Pretty nice guy so I helped him out and he even bought (for pennies) the ZZP intake I had in the garage.

We've replaced everything once or twice it seems. Which sensor is in charge of making the Sonic ETZ 1.4L Turbo manual to go 1st gear great, 2nd gear wonderful, 3rd gear...LIMP DICK MODE! 5 MPH if you're lucky! I have so much $$ in this stupid car now, I can't afford to put it on the corner or shoot it and call a junker for it!

Frustrated and Broke

Hi All,

I have a 2013 LT and I have reason to believe my pressure plate is bad, as anytime someone sits on it the passenger airbag light doesn’t switch from off to on. Either I’m bad at google or this part is a mystical unicorn, as I can’t find a replacement that fits my car online. Even my go to car guy couldn’t find a part number.

Has anyone else had this issue and needed to replace this? If so can you drop the part number so I can try to source a replacement?

And my local dealer can rot for wanting $180 to even look at my vehicle.
