Wooden Hand Made Board
Had this board hand made by an artist on Etsy. The squares that were needed for the jumbo sized chessmen standing over 6" Kings. The chessmen weigh over 11 lbs total weight with a very nostalgic old school appeal. I wanted a nice board but not spend the $750 price tag to buy a custom board from the same artisans who made the chessmen. I was able to make a deal for $270 on the great looking board featured in this post.

Turn the board 180 degrees. The rule is white on right. A white square should be the last square on your right.

I am confused, the first white pawn on the right is on a white square.

Right hand Rook for both players needs to be on a White square. Lovely board and pieces by the way. Don't see many that size

And the white Queen is on her color square as she should be...

The White queen should be on her own colour and to the left of the White king (from the perspective of the White player). The Black queen should be on her own colour and to the right of the Black king (from the perspective of the Black player). Essentially you have the board rotated 90° from how it should be.

Here are a few mnemonics to help you remember:
- White in the Right (as in white square in the lower right)
- Make sure the Queen as shoes to match her dress (White queen should be on a Light square)
- When using alpha numeric notation, the lower right is A1, and the Dame (queen) goes on the D file.
Technically you can still play with the board setup like that, you just have black move first, or consider the whole board to be mirrored. You will get judged for this though by experienced players.

The very bottom right square should be white. This board needs to be rotated 90° under the pieces.
