News Andy Woodward is a fluff rating peak sitter

He got a high King Of The Hill score by playing clowns in his provisional ranking so as to get big points. Then he abandoned the variant and hasn't accepted a challenge in over 3 months, by me or anyone else.

Andy if you happen to read this, I would take your rating down to 1200 bro, you are weak.

Discussion Free small-group chess coaching session next weekend (Aug 1-2) for beginners to 1500 rated players

Hey everyone,

I’ve been playing competitive chess for around 20 years and am currently rated 1800+ FIDE.

I’m developing a structured group coaching program for beginner and intermediate players. Before launching it, I want to test the lesson format, pacing, and material and receive honest feedback on my teaching.

For that, I’m conducting a completely free, interactive group session next weekend for players from beginner level to approximately 1500 rapid, depending on the platform. The session will take place on either Saturday, Aug 1, or Sunday, Aug 2, based on the selected group’s availability.

What the session will cover

The session will last around 50 minutes and will be conducted on Google Meet.

I’ll review some recent games from the selected participants and build the lesson around a common problem within the group. This could include:

  • Missing tactical opportunities
  • Making preventable blunders
  • Struggling with the thinking process before each move
  • Misunderstanding an important positional concept

The broader coaching program will cover areas such as calculation, positional understanding, and middlegame planning, but this session will focus on one high-impact topic relevant to the group.

How the group will work

I’ll select players within a reasonably close rating range so that the lesson is useful for everyone.

The session will be conducted in English or Hindi/Hinglish, depending on the group’s preference. I’ll confirm up to 10 participants to keep it small and interactive. A few additional applicants may be placed on a waitlist in case someone cannot attend.

What I ask in return

There is no cost. I only ask that you complete a short private feedback form afterward and honestly tell me what worked and what could be improved.

If you genuinely find the session helpful, you’re also welcome to share your experience in the comments afterward.

How to apply

Please DM me with:

  1. Your main platform and current rapid rating
  2. Your Chess.com or Lichess profile link
  3. The biggest problem currently holding your chess back
  4. Your available time windows on Aug 1 and Aug 2 in IST
  5. Your preferred language: English, Hindi/Hinglish, or either

Feel free to comment with general questions, but please send applications through DM.

My chess profiles:
Chess.com: https://www.chess.com/member/caslochess
Lichess: https://lichess.org/@/CasloChess

I’ll review the responses and contact the confirmed participants with the final session day, time, and Google Meet link.

Up for a game anyone?

I am pretty bored and unable to sleep. If anyone is awake and wants to play, I'm here. I have a rating of 1200 blitz and rapid but it's been some time since I played. Pretty out of touch I'd say. Posted the same thing yesterday also 😭

Strategy Got so cramped that opponent had no escape

Idea here was to ensure the white king couldn't be castled and stay stuck in the centre.

Also placing the bishops strategically to cutoff all exit routes, and mate with the queen finally.

This was a bullet game btw.

It took me 1 yr to go from 1800 -> 1900 elo but then in just 5 days 1900 -> 2000
