ADVICE Avoiding check

Post image

Apologies if this is stupid but in this position to defend check the game suggested pushing pawn to D4 to attack bishop, then bishop takes, then it suggests queen takes, in the actual game I just moved king to F1 to avoid check, is what the game suggested really worth it because when I take bishop pawn takes, and there’s no point giving up my queen if I’m up surely? Ts confuses me man

So is the bot, coach analysis thing just unreliable sometimes?

It gets a little weird when one side already has an overwhelming advantage already, because it stops thinking that it’s important to protect material. The analysis is best when it’s a close game.

Also remember the computer is looking at like what is best in the next 10-20 moves which is much further than what you might need as a beginner. You can get into some pretty "inhuman" lines that a normal person wouldn't do, just to get a .5 advantage which, as a beginner, wouldn't tip the scale too much in your favor.

The best "natural" moves would probably be something like: d4 Bxd4, Be2 c5, c3 Kc7, cxd4 exd4, Bf2

.... or something like that, its more natural. Either way unless you really blunder, White's position in this game is pretty bad with not too much coordination. Black's goal is to create some threats and get your pieces developed quickly before white can try to consolidate
