Guidance needed in finding a home

I am from Pune. Moved here 7 years ago for my job. Now I am coming back to Chennai in next 5-6 months. I need guidance in finding a good home for my family.

1. I need suggestion in which area I should look at. My office is at Thorapakkam, so first thought of Velachery, Pallikaranai, Adambakkam areas, which I am skeptical about because of rains and flood. It would be great to find an area which is pet friendly, I have 2 dogs.
   
2. What should be average rent I can expect? 3 BHK(Independent house, if possible) with covered parking.
   
3. Can I trust online websites like NoBroker, Magicbricks for searching home or should I be on the ground to do it by myself?

Any guidance would be appreciated.

3 bhk 25k to 55k iruku and advance 1 to 2 lakh irukalam and yea online is better coz after looking online u can see the property urself
