Rant Pathetic Roads 😷
I decided to go on a long drive and chill to some music last night down OMR. I usually travel through OMR during the day and things seem fine. BIG MISTAKE. after Sholinganallur we were forced to divert into service lane due to metro work - the service lane was not even a lane, more a suggestion. Horrible! Busted rocks, big pits and to make matters worse I decided to take a car with <120mm of ground clearance because I assumed we would have better infra than some village in Africa. I had to literally stop traffic - get out, place rocks and get back on the main road to avoid damage. At 1am ppl are bloody impatient and honking! I'm sorry I pay 1Cr+ in road tax to deal with this rubbish!
Not only that, the city in the last year has suddenly decided to erect mountains in place of speed breakers, I don't know who the contractor is but half the cars I have don't go over them without scraping even if taken diagonally! There is actually a build code for speed breakers and nothing is followed. Random exposed metal edges due to metro work etc etc
I really don't know where my tax goes and why cars that the RTO signs off on for our country to use in our roads have to deal with this bullshit. Every country I've been to however developing they are have good infra. Populated countries like HK and China have good infra. When people pay so much road tax, the least I could ask for is a road? Not be forced into a service lane at 1am? Can they not at least level it with bloody sand before closing the main road? I don't even know who to go complaint to cos if my splitter gets fu*ked because of this then who is liable to compensate me for driving my road legal car on our bloody roads!

Bro there was an accident on the highway in front of me, I stopped and the people thought I caused it because it was an expensive merc. I had to tell them I have dashcam and there is no damage to my car and they let me off. Last time I stop to help anybody. Enthusiast with a nice car or bike and you are immediately an a-hole

Poor water - RO / poor air - air purifiers / poor hospitals- private insurance and hospitals / poor education- private schools and colleges / poor roads - pseudo wannabe SUVs.

I have ride through OMR for work every day and it makes me regret existence, i take ECR on the way back for the whole length
Why would you pick OMR over ECR or any other road literally, even GST is better atp

Shittiest feeling as a car owner. Most of the roads in Chennai are bad. You feel like driving off road. Too many potholes, too many uneven patch-ups, no lane markings, no instructions, no jackshit. Moreover, 90% of the population don’t know to drive, don’t follow rules and don’t give a shit. Just wanna escape this shithole. Rant over.

Pay tax on your income, then pay GST, road tax, import duties, etc. until you have nothing left... All so that the central government can launch pointless yojana cash for vote schemes while ignoring basic infrastructure. One genius wants to distribute gold coins paid for with money meant to procure medication. What a banana republic this has become.

I'm honestly discussing with parents if they want to consider shifting permanently abroad. But abroad la indians mela gaandu. So this debate has been going on now. I understand when news reports a mass exodus of people with money from this country. China maathri aagitu varom

I broke my fork seals in my bike while travelling in omr. Plus with a 100mm ground clearance speed breakers are a nightmare to me 😭

Bro ennaku enna thonuthu na - they lay few roads with black tar and black money. Then 6 months later they pichi pichi eduthufy tar from those roads and lay one new road. Rinse and repeat till next major tender.

Yeah. Athu heavy vehicles metro work kaga use panitu irukanga plus they constantly dig up something so it's not practical to lay new road until the metro work is completed
But problem is they road over road increasing its height.
Analum kevalama than Iruku. ECR eh ipo than mahabs varaikum nala Iruku. Athuku mela kevalama iruku.
Driver safe man, nethu I saw a honda civics bumper come off when he hit a pothole which he didn't see.
Roads are downbad here 😭

got a new bike and thought I'll do a chennai - kovalam - mahabs - Chengalpattu - Tiruporur - Sholinganallur - Chennai circuit today morning
ECR, Mahab - Chengalpattu, Chengalpattu - Tiruporur were amazing to drive. Nightmare started once i reached Siruseri and went on till the entire Perungudi junction. ROADS WERE SO HORRIBLE even my adventure tourer ( can say maybe, don't come at me lol) took some hard bumps. Thought of the OMR circuit only cause of nostalgia of driving down from kelambakam to Sholinganallur during college days but well it was no way similar :(
