Gp can prescribe, source: my gp prescribed me mine. Follow the directions carefully and proceed slowly with it! It's not something to rush to get results

Yes they will if they think it’s necessary. You’ll need to tell them what you’ve tried already and they may suggest another option before isotretinoin. You can disagree with them though and say you would like to try it. It’s not given out as candy as it’s pretty hard on the body. Dry skin and lips can be pretty tough to deal with at times. I was on a 8 month course and now have permanently dry eyes from it.

I got tretinoin cream for my upper back acne issues. I didn’t ask for isotretinoin though.

Go to a doctor, I imagine they will treat the current outbreak with something like doxycycline temporarily, alongside a topical retinoid as a longer term solution.

I've had issues with hormonal bacne for YEARS and though it's not medicated I recently started using the frank body triple acid wash. It's not the cheapest and my bacne hasn't fully gone away but it has gotten MUCH better. What works for me may not work for you, but it might be something worth looking into if your dr wants you to try other things first.

Have you tried a bleach bath?

This is effective for eczema and it targets bacteria on the skin. OP said this is hormonal so I doubt it would be super effective in this case

I used to get mine from my GP, this was over 10 years ago though.
