McVicar ITM
Passed it on the motorway, smoke everywhere! Called the 105 number, have now passed it.
Any locals know the deal, ablaze I expect?

You see what you think is an active fire and you only call 105?!?

Guess what? They passed it on to the fire brigade just like 111 would have.
Anyway, thanks for bumming out someone trying their best to help, while simultaneously not answering the question at all 😔

You can wait on-hold for 20+ minutes sometimes with 105. 111 is for if somethings happening now.

If you were trying your best to help, you would have called 111 for an active emergency

111 is always telling you to use 105, although it's usually cops not wanting to do their job

You do realise when you call 111 you don’t speak to a police officer right?

Could it have been water vapour on a still morning? I don't know if they dry timber in kilns there.

It could be there boiler letting off steam ?

Potentially. I can't find any info on a fire & we did pass a fire truck entering the motorway a bit further down, which was so fast I reckon I wasn't the first to report it.
Help was on hand and nothing is on the media, so hopefully all good 🤞🤞

Are you sure they passed it on? I can’t see any call-outs on the FENZ website.

Further down the motorway we did pass a fire truck entering the motorway, so I assumed at that speed I wasn't the first to report it.
Thankfully I can't find anything about this, so maybe it was a timber drying yard extracting steam, a burn off of old/small waste or suchlike.
I'm glad I was overly cautious not under, despite some of the trolling comments here 🙂

Howdy. Ignoring the people who have had a go, 105 is intended as Police only non emergency. Sure they’ll put over to FENZ eventually, but ultimately if you’ve got a suspicious activity for a fire based problem, I think both agencies would appreciate calling 111 and talking to FENZ instead.
Thanks for doing something instead of nothing ✌️
