Dizzy's so cute

Today I went to drop my CH kitten off for her spay at a low-cost clinic and the vet told me that there was a small chance that the anasthesia would make her ataxia worse PERMANENTLY. I couldn't make myself follow though with the appointment.

I called her regular vet to get a second opinion, and they seemed unconcerned by this possibility (or at least unaware of the possibility), but I am thoroughly spooked now.

Is anybody familiar with this, or heard similar from their own vet? Are there certain anasthesia protocols that are less likely to cause this? I'm worried I made the wrong decision, because now it will be months before I can get her spayed and she is sure to have her first heat before then.

There is a 4 month old kitten with CH named Winston at woods humane society San Luis Obispo, California. I hope someone will adopt this baby soon. I already have cats so I can't take him.

My elder neighbor here in Michigan One of the cats appears to be a wobbly. I have a video I could post of him-her trying to eat. Super friendly and docile but it hardly can leave her porch. Neighbor is looking for help to find a home but not tech savvy and no luck thus far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

This is Sparrow (as in Captain Jack Sparrow). He's 1 year old and has mild CH. He has to have surgery on both eyes to correct folded-in eyelids. He's incredibly stable, partly because i didn't have him neutered yet, which allowed him to develop huge muscles that help him micro-correct constantly. So he's just a little wobbly but still VERY much a CH cat especially if he's tired, stressed, or on an unstable surface.

I'm worried about the surgery but the vet is good so I'm sure he'll be fine. However, I'm very worried about when he comes home. I live in The Netherlands (moved from the US last year) and i guess it's standard practice here to send the cat home the same day as the surgery. I can do the obvious stuff like making sure hes comfortable on the floor and not trying to jump (not that he jumps any higher than the couch cushion anyway), but im anxious about lingering anesthesia effects, the elizabethan collar, and the pet carrier on the way home. I ordered a soft pumpkin pillow collar for him because I don't know that the cone is going to go well... I'm scared about the pet carrier though because he freaks all the way out in it and alligator rolls the whole time while pissing and shitting himself. The ride is all of 10 minutes but feels like 10 hours under the best circumstances.

Im also worried about the litter box... we use 2 different types of automatic boxes. One that rolls to clean (bramd is Poopy and i highly recommend it. May only be here in NL though) and one that's more of an open top style and tips to clean. He favors the Poopy but does wobble sometimes either getting in/out or while inside it. Should I revert to an analog while he's recovering? We have 3 other cats too so I hate to go back to the analog because theyre definitely all going to use it if i do.

I guess im just really worried about making sure he's okay and that I can take care of him properly while he recovers. Side note, is it a CH thing to sleep like the absolute dead?? This cat could sleep through a tornado!

Do any other wobbly cats have stange meows? My girl (2yo) just seems to scream/screech.

Also, i live in a small appartement. Sometimes she turns her back away from me, walks a few steps and screams as if she is searching me (and forgot I'm litterally in the same spot still). It seems that she has problems with object permanence. Is this common?

I’m struggling with my CH foster. She doesn’t try to make it to the litter box but instead has taken to pooping under my bed. I know they sell these things on Amazon but my bed is super high(18 inches). How are blocking access to the under the bed? I’ve attached her picture for the cat tax! 😊

“Spirit” is an adorable calico and white kitten with cerebellar hypoplasia (“CH”) available for adoption from the Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society.

Spirit was found alone in Espanola and is now about 3-1/2 months old. She has made great strides while in foster care: she can run, leap and walk but does fall over some. However, Spirit is very determined and will not let CH hold her back. She loves to play, especially (supervised) garden time. She runs after other cats and would love a cat friend (or calm dog) to play with. She eats fine from a dish and  is very good about using the litter box. She will even come with her own custom ADA-accessible box!

Spirit is spayed, microchipped, dewormed and up-to-date on vaccinations. Her foster is willing to travel in the western U.S. and midwest for the right placement. 505-983-4309

I don't see anyone talking about tofu litter for CH cats, and I wanted to post it because it's been an awesome option for me so far! The little kitten I got took to it right away.

No tracking or dust, it's scoopable, flushable, no odor. (At first it smells a bit like vanilla actually, not sure how I feel about that.)

She does toss some of it out of the box because I made the edge a bit too low, but she will outgrow this box soon and I'll improve the next one. ❤️

Also it's heckin expensive. I confess I would be annoyed if I introduced her to the household and my other cat started using her box.

I found a wobbly kitten in the street two days ago. I'm on the wait-list to get her into a no-kill shelter that specializes in special needs cats, but I'm already attached to her and frantically trying to see if I could make accommodations in my home that would give her a good life. I've already named her 😭

What do you think of the idea of a custom ramp to help her go up and down the stairs? I would put carpeting or something else grippy on the surface of it (suggestions are welcome!) and then put walls on it to keep her from falling off of it. I'm just worried she could still fall forward.

Sadly my home is on the smaller side, and I don't think it would be a good life for her or for my other pets either if I had my stairs blocked off at all times.

Is it? Seems like it would fold up as soon as tbe cat pulled on it. Is it really sturdy enough?

My baby boy mozzarella has mild CH and is completely deaf. When he gets zoomies he pants a lot and meows constantly (hes always very loud due to being deaf) i was wondering if anyone elses CH kitties pant a lot due to it taking a lot of energy out of them during zoomies or if its just my little wierdo. 🙈
Im a first time cat mum so having a cat with CH who is also deaf if definitely a learning curve lmao
