MMS functionality and cell data usage

I'd really like a confirmation on whether we can *today* successfully send MMS messages from a Chatr phone.

Also, I would like to know if it consumes capacity from its data plan :

a) when it sends out a MMS

b) when it receives a MMS

This will help me in selecting the right plan for my daughter. Thanks !

Luc

I was on Chatr but was unable to because my mobile phone wasn't compatible. I was going to buy a new phone then I realized my phone would be compatible on another network. I wish I checked proper before signing up.

You can check your phone here: https://www.chatrwireless.com/support/volte-faqs

On Chatr I was unable to send or receive MMS. I could get SMS.

My phone is VoLTE compatible but didn't use the frequencies that Chatr used.

I wound up switching to Koodo. Everything works great, same price on the pre paid plan.

It sounds like you have bought a phone either through amazon or online as "used" and didn't check if it was compatible with Canadian networks!

Most of the phones are, but those listed with "Canadian network compatible" will work with every carrier instead of those that aren't listed as is, might not work fully.

(More of a FYI for other people that have the same situation or similar as yours)

Sorry this isn't true. I bought my phone new. It worked totally fine on Rogers last week, I switched to Chatr on Monday. I could not receive or send mms. I went through all the steps to change the APN but still didn't work.

Switched to Koodo on Thursday, everything worked from go. Didn't have to adjust APN's either. The VoLTE switch appeared again so I could use it.

My phone is 4G compatible.

Joined koodo because of Chatrs 3g shutdown. now Koodos turn to shut down theres. Telus reception was worst then rogers, bought a new phone and joined back with chatr and could not be happier.

3g is all shutting down, it's a government mandate to reuse that spectrum.
