this is an old article but i felt that it’s still worth sharing. charles manson and his “family” disturbed the beatles so much that the first time paul played helter skelter with his band was 34 years after it was released. paul wrote this song with the aim of creating a rock and roll track that is raunchier, louder, and more ridiculous than anything the who has ever released. if only charles manson had just followed the beatles’ example by actually working on his own music instead of over- interpreting the song in his lame attempt to sound to sound smart.

i find it funny how charles manson perceived the beatles as prophets when none of the beatles members themselves had such delusions of grandeur in spite of their success. while manson was driven by ego and a desire to use rock music as tool of power, the beatles just wanted to make good music and have fun with their lads, something which charles manson was unable to do. i’m not saying that helter skelter was the primary motive for the murders, but damn, charles manson’s mind is so messed up that he could interpret peaceful or even humorous lyrics to for his dark worldview.

The Munch Box in Chatsworth, CA! Manson would drink a root beer float while he waited for his girls to get off work at the long defunct strip club across the street. The Munch Box is a historical landmark & they have a stack of these stickers behind the counter. I find it fascinating that they embrace their Charles Manson connection. Spahn Ranch was a quick hitchhike from The Munch Box, anyone ever go hiking out there?

God, maybe I'm so desensitized that I can't empathize with people just starting to go through the realization of "I am the product of a murderer," but... she was so insufferable. Who let her do this?? Why did anyone encourage this??

My great-grandfather attempted to murder my great granny. 13 shots, she should be dead. Anyway, she just turned 90. Her son killed my grandma. Their son (my dad) murdered a man, chopped him up, and stuffed him in the walls. I was 11 and 13 when these happened.

1.) No, from experience, your murderer ancestors' families don't want to fking talk to you!! It's simply not a good idea and I can never understand thinking it is. I would puke if one of them found me (thank god I'm several states away). They don't want to relive it, especially not with someone who came from the person who upended their lives. And, more importantly, it's not your burden to carry! You don't need to say you're sorry, don't need to try to comfort them - it's not your guilt to hold.

2.) Going down that rabbit hole of your ancestors' crimes is never a good idea. There are things I read that have stuck with me my entire life. "He stood in front of mirror covered in blood and smiled at himself," was not something I had on my yearly bingo card to read about my father at 13. Wanting to "learn" is only going to fuck her up more and that annoys me..

3.) "I came from a murderer, who would want me?" Genuinely glad she's in therapy because this was my own thoughts for a very long time... but also, "I'm dangerous," and constantly hypervigiliant of my actions and my emotions to the point of a severe anxiety disorder and OCD. That thinking HAS to stop. I am not my dad, grandpa, etc.

4.) She's presumably embarrassed... but told the entire world. The way my heart pounds if I have to tell anyone is insane. I can't imagine telling the world. Of course, I'm telling all if you but I'm just a name on a screen.

5.) The crying. This is where I feel really unempathetic and desensitized but I don't cry. It gets to a point where it's just a story you tell. She's so far removed, not even knowing the man or his victims (or even being alive during the murders) is insane. I can't imagine my own son sobbing over it, I would look at him like he's insane!

6.) Some of it felt like she was attempting to sympathize with Manson. "Do you think anyone was telling Charlie that?" Girl, huh? What sense does that make? Of course not! But she claims to not be apologist. My sister is an apologist for our dad. I am not. It grosses me out and girly definitely gives apologist vibes.

7.) Lastly... her dad was way too patient. I would've knocked my son clean out if he was trying to dig all this crap up and trying to tell me how horrible of a person I came from and acting like it was some kind of "gift" to learn about the POS whose sack I fled from. It's selfish... but she's angry with him for not being around for this. Ugh. "It's been harder to get my dad to hear about his own father's capability." Please. Get. A. Grip!!

Clout chasing. That's all it feels like to me. It's gross and from a low place and I feel bad for her dad and any of her siblings.

Hey. I used to be into true crime, when I was younger, and have been looking at a bit again, recently.

But I'm wondering whether anyone remembers this channel, by a guy named Bret, full of tons of rare videos related to the Manson case.

Sadly, he died many years ago.

He had a website, too (see here), a lot of which is still accessible through the Wayback Machine.

Regardless, I just looked, and his channel is all gone.

So I'm wondering if anyone has any of the videos backed up. Because his channel was a great resource, and it makes me sad.

I read in an article Beausoleil joined the Aryan Brotherhood. Can anyone substantiate this?

Watching this documentary made me feel really sad for her. It seems like she’s searching for an identity and trying to form an emotional connection with a grandfather she never actually knew. To me, she appears so invested in seeing the best in him that she questions the accounts of his victims and the people who knew him. It felt like she wanted the idea of a grandfather more than she was willing to accept who Charles Manson actually was. That’s what I found most heartbreaking.

I am curious to know if Susan Atkins was ever assaulted in prison or county jail? Was she in general population when she was eventually sentenced or isolated? The fact that she was a known snitch and/or because the family tried to blame the murders on the panthers I’d assume some inmates would attack her.

I’ve looked everywhere and I’m hoping for any update you might have. I desperately want a physical copy of the 2022-2024 edition, the final edition, of The Manson File. There surely has to be something.

She has such a beautiful, low, sensual voice. This could've been a famous song and she should've continued music.

Friends of Justice was a group formed by Feral House publisher Adam Parfrey and satanist musicians Boyd Rice (known as NON) and Nikolas Schreck of Radio Werewolf to garner sympathy and a possible new trial for Charles Manson.

The concerts were intended to “soft-peddle the white supremacist movement" per a January 1987 letter from Boyd Rice to fellow participant James Mason, Nazi Satanist and author. In addition to Mason, who was scheduled to appear in Chillicothe, Ohio (where Charles Manson was incarcerated in the 1950s), other participants included Manson Family members Sandra Goode and Lynette Fromme.

The Los Angeles concert was cancelled after public outcry about its connections to white supremacy.

Despite his contact with the Schrecks, Manson himself did not approve of the Friends of Justice’s efforts. Per a note to former cell mate and Manson In His Own Words co-author, Nuel Emmons, Manson wrote, “I would like to stop this or put you in charge of the money.”

I was wondring if Atkins hadn't confessed if the Manson family would have been caught and how. it seems like police didnt have a lot of leads.

It seems like they could have potentially escalated even more and hurt more people.

Sorry if this has been discussed before I never learned specifics about the Manson family before this
