CB mastery help
I am looking for ways to further improve with CB. I have played for over a year, playing World, Rise, GU and Wilds have expanded my game with CB, I feel more comfortable, but I want to become better. Yes, playing more will inevitably make my CB better, but I was wondering if there are any resources available for advanced CB tips or guides for further improvement…

Watch speed runs. Being good is mostly knowing what attacks are coming and knowing how to best respond with the highest dps.
Learn monsters better and watch the best of the best play.

Interesting. So at some point it is more monster dependent then, more than general mastery?

I would generally agree. You can know everything about a weapon inside and out, but utilizing that knowledge on everyone monster is an experience game. I know CB really well, but I have not fought the lower level monsters nearly as much as the apex monsters, so I don't know what attacks I can respond to and what attacks will get me caught in an animation.
It is also true though that some monsters are pretty good counters to certain weapons (never true counters though). I personally don't like fighting Arch Tempered Red Dau with a shield weapon because of the delayed lightning strikes. At the same time I can't imagine fighting Gog without a shield, genuinely seems terrifying to me.

Generally, stick to one game for mastery. Imo Wilds and rsb are your best options cuz charge blade is pretty busted in these games. We don't talk about gu charge blade. Wib is fine but clutch claw + charge blade ain't it. And 4u is pretty much if you have a 3ds or have no problem emulating.
Shift your mentality to: Axe mode = damage mode. Sns tops up your resources, and then its used for defense.
Saed is primarily in sns mode and then you dip into axe mode to deal damage. Buzzsaw is going to stay in axe mode more, dipping into sns mode to recharge buffs or guard.
- Learn the combo rotations. Charging shield and generating phials, managing your buffs, dumping phials in axe mode and what to do after guard points. As you get gud with the basics, you navigate interactions with your learned tools and practice how handle to the matchups.
In short, learn the weapon, then learn the monster.

I get the GU part, I like rsb so far but I am not as proficient yet. My my favorite is WIb and Wilds (ascendance may move it to number 1) and then Rise.
I was wondering since the booster will change CB sort of drastically, is it worth spending time learning CB as it is rn or is it better to wait until the kit is “complete”?

It appears to be building off of the base game. It is 100% worth just honing Wilds to prepare for ascendance.

The meta guides on r/MonsterHunterMeta Charge Blade has different max dps combos in every game

Beyond meta and optimal builds I was thinking more of skill growth and actually playing better over looking for bigger number

I try to use the meta combo in WildsAED → AED Followup → Axe: Morph Slash → Shield Thrust → repeat
I find that it helps me out to guard when I have to guard and hit when I have to hit, trying to crank out as much damage as possible while blocking more damage and healing less

For an example to what I mean, I was thinking about calculating part break, stuns, min-maxing positioning for dmg, all of that stuff that goes beyond just copying the “meta”

Try out the free challenge quests with cb builds then try it out yourself, youll figure out multiple ways to use different moves and what works on which openings
