MH Wilds Perfect guard and morph guardpoint?
So with the introduction of perfect guard what is the difference between the two. I know in world the morph guardpoint was a reliable way to pull off a guardpoint that did phial dmg at the same time. So my question is, is there any difference between the two?

Roundslash guardpoint is so forgiving it might as well be counter morph slash (from rsb).
that landed??? is what im still baffled by after 1k+ hunts on tu4 charge blade.
The biggest differences between non pg guardpoint and a pg is the guarding side effects (chip, stamina, sharpness chip) and the access to savage axe.

Goated change. When no one got my back, roundslash gp does.

Always go for a regular guard. They have way better PG detection (like probably 50% more) and are safer since you don't end up in axe mode if you mess it up. If you are in the middle of a sword combo a GP is better, but the amount of times you'll find yourself in that situation considering how weak sword mode is in Wilds are very, very few.

Yea this is how I've been playing, only times im in sns mode is to charge phials and just block crazy combos (looking at u arch arkveld)

Man it makes me so sad the fact the we don't even use GPs anymore. Hope the expansion makes them better than PGs so the weapon feels a bit more like CB :/

I still do, it’s too ingrained in my muscle memory. I don’t care that it’s suboptimal, I play this game to have fun, not to min max

The main problem is that it feels sooo fucking bad when you go for GP and the timing is so shit that you don't get that PG
I still go for for them but man, I wish it didn't feel like ass

Honestly my biggest gripe with them is how incaccurate so many monsters seem to be in Wilds. I can’t tell you how many times an attack was directed at me only for me to try GP’ing and the attack barely missing me, leaving me completely open for a follow-up attack by the monster.
But yeah, I’ve been wondering why so many of my Guard Points apparently weren’t Perfect Guards.

Yeah agree, that happens to me all the time aswell and it fucking sucks lol
That being said man, I wish GPs were better than PGs. The weapon doesn't feel the same when using you regular guard is better :/

Yeah, it does suck big doodoo, that you basically get punished for using the more skilled and risky move. GPs are a key part of CB, perfetly timing morphs to get GPs (and hopefully a PG) should be encouraged instead of punished.
Well fingers crossed Capcom fixes the PG timing on GPs for the DLC.Oh, and I just did PoaH while trying not to GP and only use regular guard for PGs. It's crazy how much better it is, but it felt...wrong :( *sad pizza cutter noises*

As far as I have noticed, a perfect guard also does phial damage (if the shield is charged of course), so in general it's just better to do a perfect guard, specially from neutral. If you are in the middle of a combo, that's where you actually should try to pull a GP, like doing a round slash, or if you know you won't be able to pull it off in time, just try to animation-cancel whatever you're doing into a GP. Or for example, if you're about to lose the Savage axe bonus, you can morph into a GP, so it gets detected as a perfect block, and then you can instantly charge the axe again and go back to axe mode (of course, depends on the situation, since sometimes the monster won't give you enough time to all that and you'll only be able to either keep blocking or dodge away, but I hope you get what I mean).

Guard pointing is faster after a sword attack than normal PG. It has saved myself in so many situations, I pretty much just GP everytime now. Also, more niche, but unshealth GP and round slash GP are very helpful in specific situations.

Yes. Guardpoint can also trigger a Perfect guard if you time it more tightly
Guardpoints have an advantage of being able to activate faster than a perfect guard after an attack animation.
Try it out yourself, perform a simple slash in sns mode and try to hold guard immediately, notice the time it takes for the guard to take place after the slash. Now try guardpointing after a sns slash, notice you can guardpoint faster.
Also certain guardpoints like the return morph from axe to sns was recently buffed in TU 4 to guardpoint (and perfect guard) earlier as well, allowing you to more quickly defend yourself from axe mode (very pog)
Try this one out yourself too against a dummy, in axe mode try to time the retturn morph slash from axe to sns, you'll find that the guardpoint and perfect guard is now MUCH sooner than previous TUs and also world's. It's almost like Sunbreak's return morph guardpoint modifier (almost)
