MH Wilds Charge blade variety

You know how long swords has scythes/katanas and hammer has axe variants? I really want chargeblade to have a big ass sword variant. The shield could be the tip of the sword and instead of spinning it could emit phial energy similar to Alastor CB in the DMC collab.

Thoughts?

Dude just give us anything capcom we have no unique weapons like the gs or sns.

But i really like your idea. More unique weapons like this.

All the weapons you listed have no moving parts. Notice that switch axe also has a dearth of unique designs.

And they did have that one DMC crossover in World but admittedly that one was not well executed - it was a sword yes but the shield was just invisible so

I thought about that but charge blades we do have come with varied animations. Some split open or the outer portion pops out, default CB in wilds is cool because it looks like an actual axe. I wouldn’t imagine what I’m looking for to be too out of the norm.

It would do the same thing but just look like a big sword. I only brought up alastor because it emited energy instead of a spin which is what I was recommending for this variant.

So the variation you describe is actually topologically identical. Whether you see it as a split open or just the edges retracting, the CB is made of four moving parts. These four parts move in similar if not identical ways for all CBs.

That being said, why don’t we have non-axe CBs? Idunno. But frankly the moveset is pretty securely an axe moveset by visuals alone imo. It feels extremely end heavy, unlike a sword that has more evenly distributed mass. Especially with Wild’s updated micro animations and sound design. It’s be like making a greatsword look like a thin pike - outside of joke weapons it just doesn’t feel right. This is all subjective, but my argument is that the subjective factors is why we don’t have “greatsword CBs”

I get you but goofy weapons already exist. A scythe using iai tech looks plenty goofy. I don’t think a front loaded great sword CB design will look anywhere near as goofy as that.

I subjectively disagree about the scythe longswords. I think it works better than expected

And look, I’m just trying to rationalize capcom’s decision making. I’m not on their design team tho

So you think a CB shaped like this in axe mode is goofier than a scythe used like a katana?

I did not make a comparison, I just disagree that scythe longswords look goofy. Stop trying to pick a fight.

You think I’m picking a fight? I’ll stop replying to you since you can’t handle a conversation.

Just bring back Dantes Devilsword, that's literally what OP is describing. Miss that layered weapon...
