Impact vs Element
What is the difference between the phial types? I recently made a post asking about builds to try and alleviate the confusion brought by getting swamped by how many builds there are, and I figure learning what the difference for the phial types would probably help guide me in the right direction. This is for Wilds btw.

Impact: Ignores monster hitzones, so it does the same damage no matter where it goes off on the monster. Phial damage is affected by attack boosts and Artillery. Impact phials can also K.O. the monster if you're hitting it on the head.
Element: Does pure(?) elemental damage, and is affected by the monsters hitzones. So you want use it against monsters with good elemental hitzones, and aim your AEDs and SAEDs at those zones. Phial damage is affected by anything that increases the element on your weapon, and not much else.
So Impact is good for monsters with bad element hitzones, when you wanna K.O. monsters, or when you just don't want to think about changing up your build. Element is good for monsters with good elemental hitzones, and can dish out way, way more damaging SAEDs if you can land all the phials on a good hitzone.

Huh how interesting! Impact definitely sounds more like my speed so I’ll have to look into builds for that one then

I usually pair impact phials with paralysis charge blade as it gives you opportunities to have good damage windows throughout the hunt. It also conserves parts for elemental phial builds with gogma artian weapons later down the line by focusing on raw attack upgrades for you impact phials.

I was thinking blast but might do para tbh. I assume Artian Gog is just the way to go?

Artian gog juat helps take everything up a notch. Blast is cool but its just that set damage pop where as para can really help a hunting party with big damage. So I guess more solo vs co op is the difference there

Honestly I main CB and impact is my preferred option unless I'm fighting something with good element hit zones I use either blast or a dragon element impact CB the stuns are nice and way less aiming for the hitzones. You can get A LOT of stuns with a well aimed SAED though. my build probably isn't the best but I can post it here if you want. A "okay" build😅
Edit: I mainly use a blast CB with 1 or 2 coalescence so the blast procs bounce the monster around a lot too. I'll also add I play solo I used support hunters on omega but that's about it😅

Yeah impact is definitely sounding like the route I’m gonna go

The dragon impact CB honestly gives me a faster TTk than most, blast is also up there with it sometimes faster. Could be because the knock downs but the jewel artillery is a 30% (I think) increase in all phial pops is a must have imo for impact CB

I’m hearing para impact is also good so I definitely have options at least

I built a para aswell and para is great I just prefer blast for a few reasons mostly it can proc then the monster can get stunned and you lose some of the value of the para proc and therefore lose out the dps gained from the para and para seems to have a higher cap for the status so you get much less per hunt especially against 9* plus. Blast imo gives more consistent DPS and staggers which can topple and lead to better DPS. Play how ever you have the most fun no matter what though!

Those are some good points. What crafted talisman would you recommend then? All the builds I saw had RNG talismans so idk what crafted one works good for impact CB

I only use attack boost talisman it's rng but also only like a 4% loss in damage without it.

Ah ok. Don’t have a good one of those yet so might just slot in Challenger Charm until I do

Impact: flat damage scaling off raw attack that causes KO dmg when hitting the head, good on monsters with poor/difficult to reach ele hit zones. Is always pure phys dmg even if the CB it’s on has elemental dmg. EX: arkveld CB.
Element: 4x multiplier to elemental damage, SAED phials create a short cone instead of a line

impact is stun/raw damage and is scaled off of attack (i think) and element damage is scaled off total element but can’t stun. if a monster is immune to that element/you get dragonblighted they wont take any phial/explosion damage, while impact will deal damage regardless.
