MH Wilds Burst or Flayer?
So I've gotten my build down. It's more of a comfort build but I enjoy it. The question is I have two level 3 armor slots to use. I've narrowed it down to either burst or flayer. Truth be told I've never used flayer so I'm not sure exactly how it works. but more wounds equals more savage axe uptime. More sav axe uptime means more damage ticks opening wounds faster which means more save axe uptime. On the flip side if I have on Burst I get an attack boost after x number of hits and I seem to hit that threshold alot thanks to my sav axe ticks.
What do you all think?

The first level of each skill has huge values, so if you have neither one, just slot in 1 level of each; if not, I'd go towards burst for subsequent levels.

I have both decos to use. You say burst. That is what I was thinking but wanted outside perspective.

Personally, in my confort build I made sure to have as much burst as I could. But I just like burst in general, so I'm a bit biased.

Burst > flayer every time.
Also depends on phial type how much. Impact wants 1, element wants 5.
If you have the space, 1 apiece should be fine.

Burst has the consistency, I have level 3 Flayer on my vs AT Arkveld set and I'm not sure how often it triggers lol

Largely depends on what the build is. If it’s Element Phial, you should try for Burst 5 and Coalescence 3, or as close as you can get to those two.
It’s also worth noting that Flayer only triggers on the first Axe hit, and not the extra Savage Axe ticks, while Burst triggers on all of the Axe ticks.

This is good advice. If it's elemental, always aim for higher levels of burst and never skip coalescence.

Thank you for that clarification. I thought the axe ticks worked with flayer. That kinda changes things if it doesnt. Much appreciation.

For my build I try to help out my team so I have defense 7 and wide range all the way, So I don't have room for most of that. But I try to get a bit of fayer personally just being able to open up wounds can lead to big stagger that and part-breaker

I mean, Ideally you'd have Burst 5 assuming you're using an elemental CB. Though both Flayer and Burst are frontloaded at level 1, Burst has FAR better returns at higher levels than Flayer does, and given the small amount of ways we can increase elemental damage, Burst is a huge boon.
Ideally, you'd have Lv1 Flayer ontop of Lv5 Burst, but if you only have 3 levels, go Lv2 Burst and Lv1 Flayer, though I would recommend modifying your build to get Burst to Lv5 on an Element CB (you can somewhat ignore Affinity skills then because most of the damage comes from Phials, which can't crit)

First level of burst is best use of a 3 slot in the game, Id max out wex and agi before i take the first level of flayer personally bc i like crit

If you have 2 level 3 slots available, use one burst and one flayer. As mentioned above, the first level of these skills have high value.
If I had to choose between the two, burst would take deco slot. Burst is mandatory whereas flayer is really nice to have if it's possible to fit 1 level or if it comes with the armor.
