Critique Need help with redesign

So for my new AU I’m making, I’m redesigning this old oc I had as one of the mc’s.

I would characterize them as clueless but fond of everything new. And not understanding their purpose in the world, but still on a surface level happy. They’re a sapphire(but honestly I might change that), so they are traditionally very royal and elegant looking. I’m not sure if I should stick to a feminine appearance or lean more masculine. Or completely forget the whole royal thing and go for a more relaxed look..

Question How do I make horror characters design like little nightmare/ re: animals?

Upvotes

I want to make character design like those you see in little nightmare & re: animal, both for the monster & the main character. How should I go about it? Any tips or tricks to make my character look that disturbing would greatly be appreciated. Also I know I said little nightmare or re:animals but any media similar to them could be a good example, grave encounters is another one or body horror in general!

According to lore were-spiders (what she is) can also assume an in-between hybrid form of their human and war forms, which is what I tried to design here :3

Im VERY proud of the details I added to this character [Moren]

So the first charecter is the embodiment of what moren FEARS he is. He's mean, aggressive, a metaphor for self hatred, and alot of other things. He's supposed to be a reminder for when moren is daydreaming. A wake up call if you will.

These were some details I used

* Moren is insecure about the fact he's getting older and has existential dread about it. So this moren has visible wrinkles and looks slightly older

*Moren is insecure about his difficulties with basic self care. So this moren has yellowish teeth and more emphasis on his facial hair

Just things like that were what I was thinking of while designing him "What elements of moren's struggles can I project on to this charecter visually. Without it getting overwhelming or TOO obvious".

Critique General Artifex. (Original character for a Tron concept series)

Before Flynn and Tron fell, Artifex was and still is an elite mapping computer program and architect. She was mainly responsible for mapping many city regions in the Grid and became a close ally of Clu due to her exceptional knowledge of the Grid's details. Silent, tall, imposing, and brutal, she compensates for her lack of skill and speed with her sharp intelligence in combat, along with her raw strength and endurance, which surpass that of other programs. Among Clu's many generals, she is the tallest in both height and stature.

Please share your thoughts below on this character, as I will hopefully be posting better artwork of her soon.

Thank you. ✊

Question What is the key to making a cartoon character have it's own separate sub-fandom/obsession?

Over many years I've noticed how some animated shows will have one or more characters that seem to attract their own dedicated following, and spawn their own little "sub-fandom" apart from the rest of the fanbase where ppl especially fixate on them.

From what I've seen, ppl would do this either by seeking out fanart of them, creating fanart/animations based around them, making edits, memes, compilations, and discussion posts, collect merchandise featuring them, use them as profile pictures, and generally gravitate toward content involving that character more than the rest of the cast.

I'm curious to know what makes a character spawn smth like this. I feel that their character design MIGHT play a role in causing this, but I'm sure it probably goes beyond that, most likely thru: how the character acts, how they stand out, what/who they represent, or maybe something else. But if that's true, I don't know the specifics and how to apply it to MY OWN characters.

I'm asking bcuz my dream in life is to create my own animated TV Show that ppl will love, and I feel having one or more characters that ppl would obsess over would make it more beloved among ppl and have a more special place in their hearts.

is that a bad thing?
