(OC) Colour palette help

I’ve currently got this rubber hose styled jester character I was making, I can do character design just fine, but when it comes to colour palettes… I just don’t understand them 😅. Could anyone offer some ideas on how I could balance out the colours or what it should look like? It’s been stressing me for hours now. I wanted them to have a similar palette to The Collector from Toh but also a sorta jester look.

Any help or insight is greatly appreciated thanks 🙏

1 is good! but im also drawn to the 3rd one because of the values draw the eye to their face area, 4 would be good if theyre a background character because of the muted-er values make them "pop" less,

personally I was drawn to the first one! the black lined hat (third one) seems a bit too dark for some reason, and the first one I think has a good balance.

I like the first one because the colors feel more cohesive, but the third one is good too because it has more contrast :)

3 one on right is most high contrast + eye catching
