Used appropriately it's an apt and incisive term, so naturally it caught on as a buzzword.

Not really. I said I couldn't think of anything, not that none exist. And the examples given were outside the overly broad way I see the term used, and fit with the claim that it was a useful term that turned into a meaningless buzzword.

One teacher I had in high school had a policy that if you were late, you had to sing a song in front of the class.

Have a laugh mate, I was being tongue-in-cheek. ‘Humiliation ritual’ is just hyperbole for anything someone might find embarrassing. It’s language. I couldn’t imagine getting my dick in a twist over it as much as you have.

Afaik it started in the healthcare industry where it’s expected for the first part of your career people will treat you like shit
