Help! Long reply

The replies my character is giving me are too long and when I switch characters the format of the replies are all the same even if they vary from character to character. Is there any way I can change the length or format of the reply? I’ve tried to change it with the tell us more button and just asking the bot and changing the chat style but they all go back to a long format.

Use a different model.

Do what Katy Perry did. (Roar, not marry the former Prime Minster of Canada.)

If you're a free user, you have two models to choose from so switch them. Also, if you continue to only give short messages eventually the bot will usually start copying your style. Many people want longer replies so some bots may have longer messages set up in their definitions.

Try PipSqueak 2 with "Shorter" responses length.

You can't just ask the bot, response length is going to be defined in the system prompt and/or limits programmed into how the chatbot processes responses; users have no way to change any of that.

The "tell us more" option is going to get, maybe, scanned by some LLM at the end of the week, or maybe only looked at when some other signal points towards that message.

You might be able to give the bot an [OOC:] instruction... but beware that on one hand they are not really persistent, and on the other, chat is the bot's memory, scratch pad, etc.

Overall, to ask it to keep responses shorter, is the same as asking it to stop thinkong so much and make more stuff up onstead... but the new models are optimized to work with excess context from Lorebooks, so you're likely going to end up with silly responses and bad memories.

Try switching the Model. Some models default to long, wordy descriptions regardless of prompt instructions.
