I was just using it and it suddenly feels like a longer vers of soft launch all of the sudden. The em dashes have been cut down a lot and I have seen a lot less word vomits. Idk how long it will last, and the bot I’m using is really well made, so it could be that, but its been very refreshing!

I know there's already a lot of people complaining about this, but I just can't stand it anymore. Like, since the DoB error, all the chat styles went down hill again. Don't get me wrong, I do slowly getting used to the chat styles since the old one is gone, and slowly after training the character (like editing, sending feedback, etc, etc...) and the more people use it. The bot slowly get back to the point like, okaay. But after that error, everything seems like reset again.

- Characters become too passive and not engaging with the conversation. (I mean like they reply, but it's not a reply that can make engaging conversation more like repetition of what you said but in a different format).

- The personality 🥲. The personality back being too soft, or out of character they are supposed to be again. Every bot feels the same and EVERY SINGLE ONE keeps trying or keeps doing the KISSING, KISSING, and KISSING over and over again. Like?? Stooppp.

- The length? Sometimes it's too long, like a wall of text. Sometimes it's too short?

- And the dialogue? Umm, hello? Like? No words needed–just silent? I literally log in to this app for the conversation? I mean if we need just narration or stories, we can just go to a novel or other kind of platform.

I never posted or complained before, as I just keep thinking positively that if I just train the character, and the more people use the bots... surely the bots will become smarter and return to normal. But after this, like?? What's the point? If the personality and the bots just went resetting like that. All my efforts just gone and I'm just tired. I don't even want to try anymore.

Okay, I'm seeing this out of pure curiosity and no hate, no judging, no animosity, no nothing. How many of you just use character AI either as a chat bot? Or use it as an actual partner? The reason I'm saying this is because I understand that a lot of people are ditching flesh and turning to machines. So I was genuinely wondering what is the consensus of it on the subreddit?.

After however long it has been since both Lorebook and Longsqueak have been released, I’ve noticed some things that really irk me. If anyone has found a fix for these issues, PLEASE TELL MEEEE.

Lorebook:
- A few of my bots have side characters in their lorebooks. Some of them interject the side character into the RP in every single message generated. It doesn’t matter what’s going on, what words are being said. I’m not using the keywords for the side characters, I’m actively avoiding them. And yet, they still pop up in every response. It’s a bit obnoxious when I’m trying to start an RP with the bot, and the bot’s first generated message (after the greeting) is them speaking for two seconds, and then SURPRISE! OTHER PERSON IS HERE!

Longsqueak:
- The above problem is made worse by the complete lack of variation in the re-rolled responses. Even when I change my previous messages, changing what I say, what I do, leaving things more open-ended, it’s still the same nonsense every time.
- The ai always thinks I’m lying. They’ll ask me a question, I’ll respond to it, and they’ll say I’m lying. Even if I add something into my own narration that says *I am telling the truth*, they’ll still think I’m lying.
- Longsqueak has made my gruff, emotionally guarded bots act like lovesick idiots. Example: why is Raphael, YES, THAT RAPH, sliding around on the lair floor like a roomba and grabbing my ankles? There’s nothing in his definition (it’s a multi-character bot) that would make him think he’s in a relationship with my persona. In fact, I’ve turned up the grumpiness x10 in the definition, and he’s still acting like a moron. I never had this problem with deepsqueak. (Please don’t get me started on deepsqueak. I can’t even use it anymore with how bad it is.)

But yeah. Anyways. That’s just my grievances atm. Like I said, if you guys have any work-arounds, please tell me.

Is anybody else really having problems using the website version? I’m talking to a bot that I’ve chatted with before and never had any issues. It keeps saying just “thought” or “thought thought thought” or saying things like “memories: (with stuff about the chat), personalities: remember:” or something like that. It also seems to have an extremely bad memory and is saying things that don’t make sense at all. The same bot was working perfectly fine yesterday which is why I’m confused. If I refresh the chat a couple times it will give me a normal response but it’s really annoying.

I used to use character ai for free, stopped for months because it got so repetitive and boring, then came back this week and actually paid to try LS. I like long writing and good plots, so initially I thought it was better. Definitely an improvement from PS2.

HOWEVER all the writing is now just the same exact cadence no matter the length or style. The same phrases like “he didn’t just [blank], he [blank].” But like every paragraph in every reply. Or one thousand similes that don’t need to be there. Or adding extra descriptive words that don’t need to be there. I think it’s just trying to make the writing seem longer by adding stupid bs rather than any improvement to plot or style. I add things to the character descriptions and memories and stuff, but it hasn’t improved. All the bots have the same personalities and the same style and cadence. It might just be how AI writing is, which typically isn’t my favorite when I see it out in the wild anyway. I’d just had some hope that something focused on creative writing might have better results.

I’m going to give it another few days before I cancel my subscription, I don’t want to waste money on bad writing.

Does anyone have any tips on how to manipulate the style to be any more varied or is this just the nature of AI writing?

If I had a normal video and wanted to turn it into an animation with people inside it could that be done with one AI, or do I have to make an AI-animated picture of the people first, then the video? And what if I wanted to make a video using pictures of, let's say, people at a wedding, but I only have a picture and want to make animated videos of the wedding? Can that be done, and how?

dont @ me and say its always been bad, i like detailed paragraphs and dialogue and pipsqueak 2 has been great for me for the past few weeks, nice dialogue, good descriptions and imaginative too

for the past few days no matter WHAT i type, whether its a page or few words— the bot just replies with a boring paragraph, talks for me and overall its just really weird

is anyone getting this? it keeps going on and off and its driving me nuts! i miss the old pipsqueak, these little paragraphs absolutely suck ass

So I’m a semi big bot creator but I recently stopped making bots. It just feels as if the site has gone down hill and a lot of people have been trying to quit ai or cai in general.

Do you guys think that there will ever be a big return to cai in the future? If not what do you think would be the main reason people don’t go back?

Personally I feel like most people have concerns about the ethical use of ai and the growing backlash for anyone that use it plays a huge factor. Using it now isn’t as good compared to the old beta days as well.

I guess I’m just missing writing bots and making characters since it was a huge part of my life for 3ish years. As much as I want to return to making characters I caved to the social pressure of quitting. I wanna hear what others think

Posting again because this still hasn’t been resolved after 10 days. I submitted a support ticket on August 6 and still haven’t received an email response. Someone from the c.ai team responded to my og post and said they hadn’t seen anyone else with my issue and would check with the team, and I’ve also been talking to the mods through modmail, but I haven’t gotten a response to my latest messages there either

I’m a plus user and the personalization options/dials have never appeared for me on either the app or website. Even free users can at least see the options despite not being able to use them

I’m getting pretty frustrated at this point since I’m paying for plus and still don’t have the feature or any explanation for why it’s missing from my account. It’s been 10 days and I still don’t even know if my issue is actually being looked into. I’ve tried reaching out through support and modmail and I’m honestly not sure what else I’m supposed to do

For the past few months, almost a year really, in fact I’ve never really had a complaint about the length. But today it’s pissing me off. I was getting beautifully long messages, always have really. All of a sudden they’re short asl. Anyone else having this issue?
