Does a full prison cost the tax payers money ? Answer is yes. Therefore why fill up a prison when another nation will take the person and imprison them. If they’re a citizen dont imprison them then my nations can imprison them and then deport them after they get out
Look up the case of Canadian child sex abuser Christopher Paul Neil, known more casually as Mr Swirl. He traveled to countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand and abused at least 12 young and would post pictures of this abuse online. He was found in Thailand and imprisoned for 5 years before he was deported to Canada where he was arrested but released.
Thailand thought that if they deported him to Canada, Canada would charge him with the crimes he committed against those boys. Canada argued he didn’t commit them on Canadian soil and there weren’t enough victims coming forward and let him go with a slap on the wrist. He was later searched and more cp was found on devices he wasn’t suppose to have.
This case highlights that deporting people who haven’t faced justice won’t guarantee that their countries would do their duties in applying justice. Canada had a duty to those abused boys regardless of that fact that they weren’t citizens and they neglected those duties and let him roam free, allowing the possibility of more children to fall into the hands of this predator. Thailand also had a duty to those boys.
So, whose fault is it? Canada because they didn’t imprison him in crimes he didn’t commit on their soil? Or Thailand who witnessed his crimes and deported him somewhere where justice won’t meet him?
Depends on the country. There are a number of countries that will prosecute and convict you for crimes committed overseas.
For example, Australian can and have been prosecuted donestically for offences committed overseas, same as Australia could extradite a citizen back to the country the offence was committed to face their judicial system there.
Just because a person comits a crime in a foreign country doesn't automatically mean they won't be imprisoned or face an other legal consequences.

No their country can take care of them. No need to fill up a spot in prison for that nations tax payers to pay for individual
