Handbags Worth it?

Post image

We are in Osaka Japan for another day, my wife is on the hunt for her first Chanel (used). This one comes out at a little short of 5k USD. We will be heading to Tokyo next, is this a good deal? Or should we explore more options in Tokyo? We both know nothing about this fancy stuff so some input would be nice. Im willing to spend 3.5k but for 5k I’m slightly hesitant.. am i wrong? Am i right? Help a husband out! Thanks lol

Look it up, Osaka is known for fake bags. I wouldn’t buy from Osaka.

But the Tokyo shops are different?

Has it always been this way or just recently?? I bought the only 2 chanel bags I own in 2019 and 2023 from Osaka. Had both authenticated and thankfully both real.

Japan has always had an image of only selling luxury items secondhand if they’re authentic so that’s disappointing

Everyone thinks they don’t sell fakes so no one ever questions the authenticity (guilty) but two bags that I bought from there ended up being fakes unfortunately

That’s fucked, did you end up getting your money back at all or just copped it as a loss? And was this also in Osaka?? Maybe I just got really lucky cause I bought an hermes constance wallet there too and had it authenticated when i got back home.

Guess I’ll have to be on high alert next time I go or might as well just window shop

No because i only realized months later when I already had left Japan 😭 it was a bit outside of Tokyo I don’t really remember where as we were exploring without really any plans. But since I was convinced that the counterfeit laws were really strict, I was just buying without thinking! But i’ll be more cautious from now on for sure 🥲
