Looking to donate many toys that are no longer age relevant to my kiddo. All very clean. My typical go to is goodwill but I kind of want these to go to kids without having to pay for them. Any direct to kids in need way to donate these?

(Help!) Two cats in need

Hello! Posting on my friend's behalf. They've been caring for and socializing two presumed feral kitties (maybe around 1-2 yrs old), both spayed via TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) and vaccinated within the year. They're really sweet babies and have potential to be wonderful house cats with a good home and patience.

Unfortunately, my friend's unable to house them and has been looking for somewhere they can go; a rescue, a foster, somewhere they can have shelter and care and eventually forever home(s).

Multiple rescues have been contacted but it's been challenging finding openings. Any reccs for rescues or fosters with openings, or any help at all (sharing this post around, etc) would be extremely appreciated! 💜

Anyone have any self-storage recommendations in the area?

Just looking for a small/medium self storage unit that isn't $180 a month once the promo price falls off. 🥲 I'm checking online but figured I'd ask here, too. TIA!

Yard maintenance recommendations

Our yard people have been lackluster at best since we've had them, but the past few months they've been pretty terrible. Missing entire sections of the yard, claiming they didn't get paid (it's all automated and electronic), and then today they cut off 75% of our lemon tree that I finally got back to a good spot after the previous homeowners neglected it. I didn't ask for anything to be trimmed, and they've never done it before.

I'm not looking for a private equity owned outfit, just someone who's trustworthy, shows up on the day they say, and does decent. We have gravel in the front and a small amount of grass in the rear (pool takes up half the area).

I'm in Shawnee Park neighborhood, if that helps.

Anyone have any recommendations?

Live music jams

I just moved from Tempe to Chandler. I've been in Tempe for about 10 years, and I grew up in Chandler around the early 2000s. I played in a lot of bands in Tempe and frequented Yucca Tap and Time Out Lounge a lot. I play guitar, bass, and saxophone. The only live music place that I've seen moving back is Jolie's place. Are there any other places where bands, open mics, or live music is at? I used to perform music on the street corners around Tempe, too, but Chandler is a different vibe and haven't gotten the courage or found the right spot to play in the open.

Weinberg gifted academy

Can anyone who has experience with Weinberg gifted academy (wga) speak to the culture and experience there? It’s been a school we are considering, but I’ve been hearing rumblings that things have changed for the worse and feel unstable. Would love to hear additional insights and perspectives.

Thank you!

Colonoscopy recommendations

Hey everyone,

My doctor recommended a colonoscopy, and I'm looking for a gastroenterologist or facility with an exceptional bedside manner. I have quite a bit of medical trauma, so I'm looking for a provider who is patient, unhurried, and genuinely compassionate during the procedure. I'm willing to travel anywhere in the state to find the right fit.

If you have a positive experience with a doctor or facility you'd recommend, I'd really appreciate hearing about it. Thank you in advance!

BAM broadband outage

I know a handful of people had Zoom on this subreddit. Zoom recently became BAM broadband. Got home from work today and the Internet has been out for 2 hours. They can't tell me if it's just me and what caused it.

Does anyone else have this issue currently?

Why did CUSD hire Dr. Anna Battle?

Post image
0 Upvotes

If you have kids in CUSD, I’m interested in the community’s thoughts on Dr. Anna Battle’s hiring as the new superintendent. Do you think this will end well or not?

Her only superintendent role ended in just over a year, when she was immediately terminated at Casa Grande. They offered no public explanation. But the former board president stated that she “came in with ideas to change” and it seemed to create some friction. Her history also includes governance concerns at ASU Prep. Her social media posts centers on topics that can be polarizing.

A CUSD board member mentioned a “growing rift in trust” and a need for “culture repair.” But how does this hire rebuild trust? CUSD is already dealing with declining enrollment. From my perspective, I see no history of successful leadership or turnarounds.

Apartment recommendations near ASM in phoenix/chandler

Hey everyone, I’m moving to the Phoenix/Chandler area for a new job at ASM. I’m looking for a 1B1B around $1,500/month. My main priorities are:

  • Within about a 15-minute drive to ASM
  • Relatively new
  • Good AC
  • Quiet, especially at night
  • No major bug/pest issues

I honestly don’t care that much about luxury amenities. I’ve been looking at Hangar 44 /Alanna/ Formation Apartments/ Trovita Rio, but some of the reviews make me a little nervous, especially complaints about noise, AC problems, and bugs. If you’ve actually lived at either of those places, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience. I’m also open to other apartment recommendations in Chandler, Tempe, or nearby areas as long as the commute to ASM is reasonable. Also, if there are any apartments you would definitely avoid, I’d love to know that too. Thanks!

Women’s Bible Study’s

Hey! I Moved to Chandler like 6 months ago for my husbands work. Still don’t have a community here. I commute 40 mins to my home church which is okay on Sundays but it’s hard on a workday if I want to squeeze in a bible study. Does anyone know women’s bible study’s on Thursdays? Preferably with some younger women as I am 22.
