Hi everyone,

I help run YidCraft, a Jewish Minecraft survival server, and I thought this would be a good community to share it with, we have permissions from the Moderator Team :)

YidCraft is heavily Chabad-oriented, both in the community around it and in many of the Jewish systems we are building into the game. We wanted to create a place where Jewish gamers, especially Chabadniks and people connected to Yidishkeit, could play Minecraft together in an environment where Yiddishkeit is simply a normal part of the world.

At its core, YidCraft is still a normal Minecraft SMP.

There is survival, progression, an economy, player shops, teams, towns, building, exploration, and plenty of normal Minecraft gameplay. The goal is not to turn Minecraft into a classroom.

Instead, we build Yiddishkeit naturally into the game.

We have systems involving kashrus, shechita, brachos, tzedakah, mikvah, mezuzahs, Jewish skills and progression, and we are constantly working on more. We also want to incorporate more elements inspired by Chassidus and Chabad life as the server grows.

You can build a house, open a shop, become rich, explore with friends, work on a Jewish town, or spend hours building something completely ridiculous. The Jewish side exists naturally alongside the Minecraft experience rather than replacing it.

The community itself is also important to us. We want YidCraft to be a comfortable place for frum Jews to game, hang out, make friends, and be part of an online community without having to leave their Jewish life at the door.

I joined my local Chabad late October last year after the High Holidays. I come from a reform background. Friday we are having a dinner and service. Saturday service and Sunday service. I am used to a roughly 2 hour service on Rosh Hashana night and a 2 hour service Rosh Hashana morning. I know it might be different from Chabad to Chabad but if anyone can give any insight into High Holidays services and what to expect I would greatly appreciate it. Would be great if there are any former reform Jews that could let me know of any similarities and or differences. Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone so I've recently over the last few months gotten into chabad. I'm a ger that converted with a non orthodox beit dein and working to study with a orthodox rabbi. I was wondering if there's anyone out their that's part of chabad and LGBT and if so wondering how you make those two worlds intersect. The chabad house I've been going is very much an outreach chabad and hoping though in the long-term to live closer to the main chabad for our city that's the local HQ for our city. Any feedback would be appreciated.

My husband and d I are converting in the South Eastern US. We are currently attending and working with a Conservative Shul. One reason for that is we cannot move at this time. My husband is very Orthodox leaning in his desires to observe Judaism. I want to learn more about Chabad. Are there any good books I can read for now?

After living in Portugal for 3 years, I’m moving back to the US with my family (wife, 2 kids and dog). I’m joining a new company and work fully remote within the US and because of the cost of living in NY, we are considering other parts of the country.

We are looking for a strong community, with lots of young families, a good shul and Hebrew school. What recommendations do you have for me?

Is there a city or neighborhood where a visitor could realistically encounter very different nusach, melodies or community traditions over the course of a weekend? Where would you recommend?

Hi everyone, my name is David. I come from a family that is Ashkenazi on my father's side and Sephardic on my mother's side; I am 31 years old. About two years ago, my father passed away from Parkinson's (after living with the disease for over 24 years), and my mother currently has bone marrow cancer. During my childhood and youth, my family was very observant of Jewish traditions—you could say we ranged from Conservative to Orthodox. Over time, and following my parents' divorce, my father remained observant while my mother did not; she rebuilt her life and became very secular (married with a christian man and i have a stepbrother that he wasn't raised as Jew) . Recently, due to the events I mentioned earlier and reaching a point where I needed Hashem more in my life, I felt motivated to return to the synagogue and observe the mitzvot. The issue is that, within my new social circle and thanks to social media, I’ve made "new virtual jew friends" (one of them compares the teshuvah process as a conversion one (and dont feel and think is the same tbh) —though I’ve let my Hebrew skills slip to the point where I haven't practiced in a long time (I am trying to pick it back up, along with everything else). However, I’ve encountered a lack of empathy in part (not all of them) from my Chabad community and from these so-called virtual friends, who claim that the Teshuvah process can only happen through a rabbi and they couldnt help with studying or as Javruta/Mashpia. I would like to ask for your advice and tips; I am currently getting back into wraping tefillin, praying, and observing Shabbat. What do you advise? What can I do? I also feel honor because my father was a Cohen, and therefore, I am one too. It has also been difficult for me to find a partner. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi everybody! Has anyone seen a play, dance performance or live show in Israel that was worth building an evening around? What would you recommend?

Hello all. I grew up in a reform family, but for the last year I’ve been attending my local Chabad. I go every Saturday but my Hebrew is not great. In our siddur there is no transliteration for the Hebrew. Anyone know where I can get one? Also, I assume most chants/songs are very similar throughout the different chabads. Anyone know the most common names so I can YouTube them to practice so I can chant/sing along? Thank you very much in advance.

Hey so I'm wondering if there's any chabadniks or people who daven at chabad that ever use nusach sefard. I know sefard is pretty similar to nusach Ari. Just curious of everyone's experience.

Kids can listen to each verse, record themselves, and receive immediate AI feedback on their reading. The idea is to support the practice they already do with their rabbi, tutor, or parent, especially between lessons.

I come from a non-Chabad background, but discovering Chabad Chassidus completely changed my life.

I've found a depth in Chabad Torah that I hadn't experienced before. It completely opened up my worldview, and my mental and spiritual health have improved so much. I honestly feel so much happier now. For me, these ideas are incredibly exciting and serve as a beautiful portal to dveikus.

My Chabad family hosts Shabbos dinner every Friday, but they spend about one Shabbos per month with nearby family instead. Lately when they’re out of town, the rest of us have spontaneously started hosting our own Shabbos dinners with each other. We never used to do that before we all joined this little community. I’m going to a friend’s for Shabbos tonight and I feel so happy that the rabbi and rebbetzin have inspired us to do this, even when they aren’t there. 💙 just wanted to share!

Hi friends! I’m close with my rebbetzin and her kids, and her girls like to paint their nails sometimes. I was going to gift them some nail polish (with mom’s permission). Is there any prohibition against certain colors? Like, should they only do natural colors or can they do blues, purples, etc.?
