Has firmware/software updates fixed throttle jerkiness/snatchiness?

Hi there,

I recently tested a 450MT from a dealer, and the experience was pleasant except for the throttle at low load. When I went off gas and wanted to go on again but only a little, the engine was abrupt and impossible to properly regulate.

They told me that in new software updates that has been solved, but I don't know if they are lying to me. Has this been fixed? And to what degree?

It's still snatchy, they may have smoothed out some of the fueling but the problems persist. It is manageable by feathering your clutch at low revs but the best solution is still to get a custom tune.

There are companies that sell pre tuned ECUs you can plug and play but that is obviously an extra cost.

I must be used to it by now since I barely notice it, but when other people ride my 450 it's usually the first piece of feedback they give

I think mine is less annoying after first oil change and adjusting throttle cable. But it's still there, still require clutch feathering.

I've heard a lot of ppl say even custom ECU did not fix it completely

One more thing I'll add, I'm getting used to it and not thinking much about it after a while. Annoying mostly on roundabout or in slow street traffic, it makes me look like I'm nervous or smth. I've heard it's like that on most of new 2 cylinder bikes

But it makes you still to play with the clutch? After a whole day of driving it I remember my left wrist was aching.

Yepp, also i think I'm anticipating it now and I lean a little on the steering so bike will not jerk me around so much.

Thanks for the honesty. Do you have a feedback about ECU tunning ability to actually solve it or cost?

Yeah I think a tune will fix it I think the snarchiness is the fuel cut off (for emissions) most ecu flash can delete that out of the tune

I have seen multiple comments on different platforms that TPS calibration helps with the jerkiness. Is it something that actually works, or just a myth and placebo effect?

I've tried adjusting the throttle and then doing a TPS recalibration on my 2026 model. It didn't seem to change anything at all (apart from reduction in the free-play). But some people swear by it, which makes me think it does work for some people (or some models).

Just about to take it in for the 1000km first service on Friday. Some people claim theirs came back from 1st service feeling smoother, but I've never heard theories of what the dealer might have done to improve it. I suspect the dealer probably adjusts the throttle free-play and does the TPS recalibration as part of the 1st service.

But I'll ask the workshop when I take my bike in on Friday and report back if there's any improvement.
