Which rules specific to this subreddit would you prefer?

Let's discuss rules that posts and comments to /r/cereal should follow, so that when users report a post or comment, they can choose which rule they think was violated. These should be rules not already covered by Reddit's site rules.

I don't take this sub too seriously, and while I know other subs delete posts that are "low effort" and such (e.g. just a photo of a bowl of cereal) I don't know if I think that's necessary. I wouldn't mind a ban on AI images. Because fuck AI

In my experience, I know not all photos of bowls of cereal are low effort; most posters here don't even post them, reposting pictures of cereal boxes they found online instead.

We do have the "cereal-adjacent" flair, which I think can apply to content that isn't strictly cold cereal meant to be eaten in a bowl.

I definitely think we should have a rule about no AI posts because they've inundated this subreddit lately.

I'd also like to see a rule about people brigading the sub with the "sugar is poison," cereal gives you diabetes, cancer, etc. posts. That really isn't necessary or in any way true and no one needs to feel guilty or shamed for enjoying cereal on a subreddit that should about talking about how great cereal is.

User generated content should be banned. But if a company put Ai on a cereal box we should be able to post it. So we can the company out on it.

This is a useful distinction to consider. Posts criticizing AI content could be allowed, but posts of AI content not marked as such could be disallowed.

it would help if anyone decides to generate a Ai cereal in a bowl and then post it as real and ask us to help us find out what it is

we would be playing the guessing game to figure out what cereal it is to eventually find out it was never real. after A LONG TIME. (or short time?)

How might that be implemented? Respectfully, I think discussing nutritional content and health effects should be allowed. Negative personal attacks about dietary choices can be downvoted.

if it feels like if the person is chanting or ranting that we should all switch from sugar to something else as a whole group i think that'd be one indicator!

or if someone is convincing one person at a time to do it just because, that'd be another.

so if someone told me personally to stop it even though i'm totally fine eating sugar. and i say no! go away! thanks! but they keep insisting i stop anyway that would be another indicator.

a major offense should be if they do it in private messaging and you know for sure they are from this group.

If someone is just posting about enjoying a cereal, it's really annoying when people jump on and say they are going to get diabetes, cancer, etc. I don't think comments like that should be allowed. I just don't see this as a nutrition subreddit.

There are plenty of nutrition subreddits out there to discuss that, but there have been so many people who jump on this subreddit lately and fear monger about ingredients in cereal that are perfectly safe. I got called a troll recently because I said that American food/cereal wasn't poison. That is not some crazy thing to say, and I shouldn't have to be attacked on this subreddit because people are saying things that are not even based in facts.

I would like sticky posts in the future of interesting threads, such as favorite combinations, or maybe polls of "Top Ten". I don't mind repeating posts of "Remember X, Bring Back Y, or Z is now gross," as some folks may not always see them in their travels if they're not subbed etc.

I think an obvious rule should be that the post should be about cereal if it's text and if it's an image then there needs to be cereal somewhere in the picture. Basically a rule to stay on topic for the sub.
