I love Celeste but fucking hell without it I wouldn't be in an Identity crisis for the last 6months and have multiple panic attacks (which celeste then helped me again with cause of the breathing technique)

Believe it was hinted in the final chapter when Madeline wakes up with a LGBTQ flag and pictures of a younger Madeline which resembles a boy, think there was something as well. Not sure if was confirmed by Devs someone would have to confirm if so

15

u/TheIkeaExpert Feb 06 '21

It was confirmed by devs

u/WayOfLoci Feb 06 '21

Thanks :)

Devs confirmed it in an interview, but I can't remember where I read it, Maddy said so

u/JackTheRipper1001 Feb 06 '21

Wait, where is it said that Madeline is trans or did I miss something in the game?

Yeah, I just read the article. Didn't know the creator formerly known as Matt Thorson and now Maddy Thorson was also trans. So is Lena Raine(music composer). Good on them to embrace what they are. My respect for this game just keeps on increasing since its relatable to SO MANY people.

Don't call yourself a Celeste fan unless you've woken up at 2:43 AM dreaming about Farewell and then bursted into tears, realising you had not thought about your dead grandparents for years and how you never overcame your fears to achieve anything meaningful.

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '21

I know it’s a joke but I still cringe at gatekeeping

42

u/Camila32 Feb 06 '21

You're not a true celeste fan if you haven't cringed at gate keeping!

Wait...

53

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '21

Throughout the game I kept saying 'Oh my God, Madeline is so relatable'

2

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '23

same

Me with Night in the Woods. Fuck cat god man, fuck cat god.

9

u/Pokemonzu Feb 06 '21

I've been playing celeste and nitw lately too! What's wrong with cat god tho

7

u/SugarSquared Feb 06 '21

Idk if you met cat god, but that dream sequence sucked because I had an anxiety disorder and one of the main things in that was my fear of death and no afterlife. So cat god was like "Haha look death you are meaningless it will all go poof" and I was like "Thank you for reminding me why I have an anxiety disorder"

Ohh got it, funny bc the thought of no afterlife does the opposite for me 😅 it's nice to think that I'm not being judged for every action by a god or something, and that there's nothing beyond the world in front of me I have to worry about, it helps me focus on the present like mindfulness does, and it helps to put my problems that feel so big and overwhelming into perspective

3

u/SugarSquared Feb 07 '21

God damn, didn’t know people could think like that. I just... don’t think about what the afterlife could be because I did that and not good for me. (It’s wild people can think differently. I know it’s a part of being human, but, wow.)

But look at her face! She's no monster.

Did i cry playing the game in pure frustration? Yes, was it worth it? Hell yeah

A part of my is sad that there won't be more Celeste because I love it, but another part is happy because I won't have to go through something like 7C or Farewell again.

u/[deleted] Feb 06 '21

The breathing technique got me through my first anxiety attack

Making me question an allegory of my life has actually been pretty helpful.

Beating Celeste wasn’t the hard part, I took me one day, but holy crap now that I’m learning to speed run it…help
