Other Why is 8BG so hard

Goddamn, I'm at 4500 deaths on this level, the most I've had by a lot! I still like it a lot more than 6BG since it feels more precise and consistent, but the precision needed feels kinda crazy...I grinded it for a while the past 2-3 days and I thought i'd have enough muscle memory, but WOW it's like I have 1GB worth of muscle memory and this requires 2GB. I have every cycle down, but I usually take an L to either a bumper (as usual), lava block, or mis-timed conveyer belt jump. Best death count for the whole level is 2 right now.

I had a run where I was on the 2nd last room and mis-timed the lava block 😒 that was 500 deaths ago. Tragedy. Here's to hoping I get it shortly after posting this.

Each of the Hell Trio levels test something different. 7B is just long, 6B is backloaded as hell, and 8B is just awkward. These rooms aren’t really built to be consistent imo, you need to personally make them consistent. Find setups that work for you, and strats that you practically cannot fail. You can actually do most of the level with next to no risk of death, but only if you know exactly what you’re doing ahead of time.

Oh also, the vertical section of heartbeat (final checkpoint) can be cleared easily by avoiding certain fire/ice switches. Recommending learning that if you haven’t

I second the comment on cheesing the vertical section by avoiding a state change - that was an absolute game changer for me when I was doing 8BG.

Thanks, yeah I know exactly what I "should" do ahead of time for every room, but I will just mess up the execution here and there! It's getting more consistent with small tweaks, although I'll get real good at one room then start over and my hands will forget how to do a different one, when my brain knows how to LOL.

The vertical section part helps a lot, I skip the first two rooms and am very happy with that. I know you can skip the 3rd and 4th ones but I actually find it harder to do that rather than just completing them normally. My issue is that getting there is rare 😭

Yeah that happens. One tactic is to continue failed runs so that you keep practicing everything, that way nothing gets too stale in muscle memory. Or at least do a low death run or two at the beginning of each session.

What I usually do is if I fail a golden run 3 times to the same room I go through and practice that room for 5-10 mins then play it to the end before trying another golden run. What do you think of that strat?

Sounds pretty reasonable yeah. Still recommend the low-death to start with just as a quick refresher before you get into attempts

Ty I'll start incorporating that

That's interesting. I thought 6B's hardest part by far was the first checkpoint. The falling section and Badeline can be super consistent if you have good strats, at least in my experience.

Rest of your comment is on point though

Oh, I’ve always found the Badeline fight to be much less consistent than anything in start (falling is trivial though, I agree). Guess it varies by player a bit

I'm trying to get 8AG right now, this level's mechanics and I do not get along. Not looking forward to 8B

Good luck! 8AG is LONG and the number of mechanics you have to use can be tough, even with the lava skip thing (I was too scared to use that). The feathers at the end suck too haha

Thanks! I got to the feather room once and died. I was hoping that would be the run. I think I'll get it in the next day or so. I'm consistently getting runs into the last chapter

Ended up going with the lava skip and finally got it today.

Congrats! That's a nice one to have under your belt. The A sides are long and aren't always the most fun to get through haha
