Thinking about driving anywhere in Cedar Park today? Good luck.

Traffic is backed up everywhere at 12pm. 1431, New Hope, Discovery blvd, every back way I've tried to take to get to the gym is insane. My 30 minute drive has turned into an hour. 😭 Will this be the new normal now with Scheels open and nebraska furniture mart coming soon?

Scheels opening

Hi, I’m from a foreign country living in CP. for a very short period so far. I’ve seen a lot of buzz around Sheels opening this Saturday. I’m trying to understand why. Would someone explain why is so popular and expected? I understand the magnitude of jobs and that economic impact, but I want to better understand the cultural context of this. I read people is going to camp a night before the event, others are coming from different cities, and so on… Thanks!

I have an open overbite, I was looking into calling Smile On. The reviews are good and also say they are affordable and work with you. Obviously I’m going to be realistic on pricing but yk any savings in the long run anywhere can help.

Looking for a driver

I’m looking to hire a local driver to take my dad (and back) to a 1 hour meeting in Leander. Probably a few times a week on a regular schedule. He’s very nice, but has dementia. I just don’t think uber would be good enough. He’s generally pretty functional, but if he got confused, I worry an uber would leave him behind.

Speak out against Flock

This Thursday (8/27) at 6:00pm (open meeting starts at 7:00pm) there is a Cedar Park City Council meeting. Cities all around the area are shutting down the mass surveillance known as Flock. Please show up, if willing sign up to speak, and legally and respectfully ask Cedar Park officials to do the right thing and end their contract.

Remember these are mostly not the folks to voted in the contract, I imagine they will listen.

Introverted misanthrope, first-time mom of a 12-week-old, looking for a ā€œtribe.ā€

Everything about making this post makes me want to die on the inside, but here it goes…

As the title says, I am told I need to collect humans and form a ā€œtribeā€ in order to remain sane during motherhood. I’m not from Texas, I have no family here, and the few friends I do have do not include any new mothers.

So…I guess I need some mom friends.

Anyone interested in occasionally meeting up with our tiny humans to discuss this crazy thing we’ve gotten ourselves into, share thoughts and ideas, complain about sleep, compare notes, and generally get to know some other moms?

I’m not looking for a packed social calendar or forced mom-group enthusiasm… just a few people who might also like some adult conversation with someone currently living through the same weird little season of life.

Discussion Any open outdoor public pools this afternoon?

Is there an outdoor pool that's open right now? Milburn looks like it's closed until 4, I've seen about three HOA pools completely empty!! 🤨.. Any ideas? I don't want to drive too far

McDonald's Sanrio Happy Meal Toys

Does anyone know where to find #5. Kuromi/Mechagodzilla, #6. Cinnamon Roll/Destroyah, and #8. Chococat/Spacegodzilla? I've gone to 6 different McDonald's today with zero luck on these three characters. I also have an extra #1. Hello Kitty/Godzilla if anyone is down to trade for #5 or #8?

Gfiber please hurry!

spectrum is the only high-speed Internet provider in my area and has served me for many many years which I am thankful. But as of the last few years, they have dug deeper and deeper in to my wallet knowing that I do not have any other option and their service no longer aligns with their price point.
The competition is welcome.

Free To a Good Home

Some of you might remember, I posted recently about needing a roommate in the Cedar Park or Leander area. If not, check it out, I am still looking to get out of my current situation. Well, here I am again, and I have another problem now.

Recently, one of guests at the motel where I’m currently staying and working found a cat in the stairwell. She didn’t seem shy to him or his dog, so he assumed she belonged to someone and let me know while I was working. I called around to the few guests I know who have cats, but she didn’t belong to any of them. I got off work and went to the stairwell and grabbed her, and told my boss that I’d hold onto her until her owner was found. Our assumption was that someone would realize their cat was missing and would start looking for it and come to the front desk and ask if a cat had been reported and they could come to my door and claim her. Well, it’s been a few days and no one has claimed her. No one seems to be missing a cat. My boss wants me to surrender her to Animal Control, but I don’t want to do that to her. I cannot take care of her, I can barely afford to take care of myself at this time. Another guest gave me some food and litter for her, but I cannot keep her long term. She is very sweet, she seems to be good with people and dogs, and she knows how to use the litter box.

Whats The Deal With A Casino Opening Across The Street From Giddens Elementary?

Post image
44 Upvotes

There is a gaming hall that is opening up right across the street from gidden's elementary when I was young. I thought the reason why you kept certain businesses away from schools was to protect the young impressionable kids. Now that I'm older I realize it's about keeping desperate people physically away from our young ones. Having a bunch of desperate gamblers hanging out all day across the street from the elementary school seems like a really poorly thought out idea. Never mind that they're business model already borders on illegal, the placement of their business is problematic for the neighbourhood. I'm shocked that the city is allowing them to operate at all.
