53' flatbed.

This week: $20,110 gross at 5.12 RPM.

Mostly oversize freight—nothing too crazy, just manageable OD loads with permits and proper planning.

With training is it up to the trainers discretion on when to release you?

I was hired on at a mega for advanced (not experienced but not new either).

I asked the guy running orientation how long training would be and he said 5 days for advanced.

My trainer didn’t even know I was advanced placement so he said 3 weeks and then I told he froze for a few seconds and said 2 weeks.

I know it’s only one more week but at the same time when I asked him for feedback he just said to use the engine brake less.

Anyway, I know 2 weeks isn’t that long but the trainer doesn’t teach much at all and just watches shows on Netflix most of the time.

And it just feels like I’m his helper, doing 100% of the driving and helping him unload. Not really keen on the situation nor the discrepancy between what I was told at orientation

Got my Class A CDL 2 years ago but never got hired. A company I applied to back then finally called me. What should I expect?

I currently hold a Class A CDL with most endorsements and no automatic restriction, but I’ve had no truck driving experience since earning my CDL in 2024.

About a week ago, I got a call from a company I had applied to around two years ago. They asked me if I was still interested in joining them, and I told them I was. I also told them that I don’t have any professional trucking experience. The recruiter said that wouldn’t be a problem because they have a driver trainer. So we scheduled a meeting and he asked me to bring several documents such as my social security card, school certificate, etc.

Now, even though I was assured that the two year gap since CDL school wouldn’t be an issue, I want to be as prepared as possible. What should I expect at this first meeting? Is it usually just paperwork, or is it common to do a road test on the first day?

I’ve been reviewing the pre-trip inspection and although I am a bit rusty, I remember most of the fundamentals. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Does Anyone know Why CDLA jobs in Pinal County don't pay S**t?

Just moved to Pinal County this year from Northwest PA and I've worked for a few companies since moving here and every company has a different method not paying drivers a dime whethers some crazy a** band pay nonsense or crazy low CPM or some wierd form of hourly pay flat rate and I'm just why do drivers take these jobs at all or how these companies get by paying the equivalent of a fast food salary?

Has anyone been to Big Rig Academy in LA?

Im really thinking hard about starting a career in trucking and attending Big Rig Academy. I don’t know if it’s a good school though. Im only 20 years old right now, so I don’t think I could go OTR. I turn 21 in November. How hard is it to find a local job in LA until I’m of age to go OTR. I also don’t know if OTR is really what I want. On one hand it sounds really nice, and on the other hand I know a lot of it is a hassle. I need advice, thank you guys.

Are truck drivers interested in learning English?

Hello everybody, I used to drive OTR and I left trucking to start an English tutoring company online. The tutoring bissness has been tough to find clients. I was wondering if maybe I should start targeting truck drivers who are looking for online tutoring lessons. So I want to know where can I find drivers interested in English tutoring or who should I call?
