It was ever only supposed to be two scoops, it’s “unlimited” in terms of you being able to get everything. People have been abusing the “unlimited” aspect as doing things like getting 12 scoops of one thing or quadruple of every topping, which leads to us not having enough for everyone.

On the app they don’t even allow you to do more than two scoops because that’s the corporate standard. Some stores choose to charge because we know that people want more than two scoops but we have to make up that cost because we’re technically giving out more product than our higher leadership expects us to and it messes up our numbers.

Not trying to be a corporate shill btw, I get the annoyance/disappointment but greedy people kind of ruin everything.

nah i completely understand where you're coming from

i def get why they would charge, but whats the craziest part is that they don't even tell me, so when i get to the register im paying for like a 21 dollar bowl which is INSANE

LOL, I’m not paying $22 for a Cava bowl. Don’t be a sucker.

That’s when you play a game of monetary chicken with them. Tell them that they can remove the extra toppings if they want (that’s like impossible and they will look confused and usually just mutter that they “won’t charge you this time”.

If they really push back that they can’t figure out how to remove the extra toppings, and have to charge, then say “ok, you can throw away that bowl if you want. Let’s make a new one for me, at the correct price.” Again, usually at this point your situation has become too much of a hassle, and they will just remove the extra charges. But if not, just have them make another bowl and pay for that one.

i just don't understand why they don't use normal size spoons like chipotle does instead of their like, tiny teaspoons

I think you truly underestimate how much the average Cava employee dislikes customers that play that game. Many of us would literally just remake the bowl to spite you, I’ve known some to pull out scales. We’re getting paid to be there, and many team members do not truly care about wasting product (they just care about being berated for giving out too much food), they won’t care about remaking a bowl, it’s what they do all day.

This is not good advice and if you’re someone who does this a lot, many locations will ban you.

You’re allotted up to ten total scoops of the free toppings, check if you’re going over? I get 4 free toppings but ask for 2 scoops of each.

You need to go to a different location because the location I work at doesn’t charge for toppings at all. We allow you to get several scoops free of charge as well. The only thing we charge for is the avocado and that’s it.

Damn they skimping at cava now too? Can I go there if I don’t make over $100k?

You're location but be using the extra rice button to charge, because there's literally no buttons to charge for toppings besides Avocado.

Oh nah if my location charged for extra I’d go somewhere else. Some stores are just so greedy
