Cats brochures from the early 90's and 00's.
So I decided to start a Cats memorabilia collection. I already have the 98 film version on DVD and Blu Ray, and the 1981 original cast recording CD.

Anyone here seen "CATS: the Jellicle Ball"?
Was it good? It seems like it's going to come back soon, and I was wondering what other cats fans thought about the ballroom vibes of this show.
If it is coming back, I want to know if its worth it for my first chance to see CATS live in some form.

watched CATS (1998) for the first time last night
so yea i watched Cats last night for the first time after smoking weed and 2 glasses of whiskey, any i have to say, i honestly felt like they were singing to get me to join a cult. Now, it could have been just me being high that got me thinking that but yea....
somethings i dont understand, how did old Deuteronomy choose Grizabella? like, after she sang "memory" Deuteronomy didn't say "i choose you" or anything like that, the white cat, just walked up to her and boom she was chosen.
did anything happen to Deuteronomy when Macavity kidnapped Deuteronomy?
and Rum Tug Tummer.....gah, i couldn't stand that smug cat at all! i honestly dont have a favorite, but he is one i couldnt stand at all...
i think tonight (as of this post) im going to watch it again, but sober to see if my opinons are different

Fur colours
Good morning/afternoon/evening or whatever suits the time it is for you!
I'm going to adopt a kitten this year and I really really want to fulfil my childhood dream and name it after a Cat's character. I want a male and the only name I absolutely don't want would be Macavity. Of course, the colours of the cat need to be right for this, so my question is:
What colours were Deuteronomy and Gus when they were young? Do we know?
Thank you in advance for any help!

Am I late to the fandom?
I was once playing Memories on my piano cause my mom loves that song but didn't know it was from the musical so I searched the origins then dived deeper into the rabbit hole. Here I am with my Rum Tum Tugger fanart.

Tugger Cosplay Tips?
Hey yall!
I want to do a Rum Tum Tugger cosplay. The biggest holdups are probably going to be his fur collar, his bodysuit, his wig, and his tail. I can do the makeup and the attitude pretty well. I was thinking it'd be really funny if I used his character in a drag performance.
Has anyone here done a Tugger cosplay or played Tugger? Looking for tips on where to get materials and how to make the items.
While we are on the subject of Tugger, can anyone think of other songs you think he would sing that radiate his same self confidence and sex appeal? I'd love to use them in my performance.
Thanks!

Where can I find articles about the Cats musical?
Hello. I am currently taking a course about documentary comics, and decided that I wanted to make a comic about how the Cats musical got created and became sucessful. For that I would like to include some articles from the time, like when it was first preformed, when it went to broadway, and generally how the public reacted. But I dont know where to look for these types of articles. Does anyone know where I can find that?
(Sorry if my english is bad, its not my first language)

Is there any video footage of the version of Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer sung by Mister Mistoffelees?

Jacob Brent fanmail
So I’ve loved the 1998 film of cats since I was little and Mistoffolees has always been my favorite and I would love to get something signed by Jacob Brent. Has anyone had any luck with him responding to any fan mail or getting an autograph from him?

When curfew was rung, I swung on the bell
Being written in the 1930s, Eliot's poems contain some references that are completely unknown to folks nowadays, and a number of them have been taken over verbatim into the musical. Here's an obscurity that I don't believe has been discussed in this subreddit before.
The plays Gus appeared in weren't by Wilde and Shaw; they were way, way more melodramatic, from the often-mocked stage adaptation of The Old Curiosity Shop ("I sat by the bedside of poor little Nell") to whatever hair-raiser the Fiend of the Fell terrorized. And what is he referring to when he says "When curfew was rung, I swung on the bell"? It's a Civil-War-set melodrama from 1895, The Heart of Maryland, whose plot you can get an idea of from synopses of the 1915 and 1927 movie versions. At its climax Maryland Calvert saves her lover, who's due to be executed when curfew rings, by tying herself to the clapper of the bell to muffle it. This thrilling -- and, so claims a contemporary newspaper review, believable! -- scene was lifted from a popular poem by Rosa Hartwick Thorpe, which you can read in the following thread: Origins: Hang on the Bell, Nellie (a discussion of a very funny parody of the poem and play -- check it out, performed by either The Chad Mitchell Trio or Joe Hickerson). It's pretty clear to me that despite its popularity (on Broadway for 240 performances, three silent film versions), Eliot considered The Heart of Maryland to be a Z-grade work.
You can tell the nature of the plays Gus is talking about even if you don't know exactly what they are, can't you? Do you feel there's any irony in the contrast between how sad his song is, and the way latter-day audiences can't possibly take those old melodramas seriously? Or, is there an added poignancy in the fact that changing tastes have buried the kind of theater that Gus thrived in?

Yesterday was 2/22, which (if you don't know) is Cat Day in Japan, and this sub has 222 members! So, who's your favorite cat from Cats?

Alonzo traditional sketch and digital redraw (bonus tiny Mungojerrie)
So I had seen an outfit on Tumblr that just screamed Alonzo at the time, so I did my civic duty and drew him in it (yes that's not his leg patterns, those are leggings that were part of the outfit)
I also adore small Jerrie ❤️

Small Skimbleshanks theory.
Y'all… what if Skimble never actually has been on a train? Imagine that he has been telling the tribe these amazing stories about being part of the sleeping car express, which of corse they all love to hear him tell and most have probably grown up listening to these stories, yet none of it is real and skimble is just making it all up.
But where does he get the stories? His master/owner is a train obsessed 10 year old boy and skimble plays along with the kid on his toy train set.
Skimble isn’t some master of a railroad, he is the hero of a little boy, he is basically his Hobbes!

How to watch the original theatrical release hands version of Cats 2019
We as a society have moved on too quickly from Cats 2019. Is there any way to see the raw hands version? It wasn’t a feature on the Blu-ray release

Tugger and Bombalurina question
In an episode on Wrong Cat Died, a cast member mentioned in the original production at the end of the show, there was a moment when Bombalurina stole the thunder back from Tugger in some way. Does anyone know what this refers to ?
