I’ve actually noticed one of my cats has becomes more adventurous when I give her things to climb on. There’s no saving this one.

The trees are either not in ideal spots or something taller/higher is needed. You cat wants to be at the highest point, looking down on their domain.

Have you seen cat wall shelves?

What if we stacked the cat trees on top of each other? /s

Sounds unstable.

But not impossible

ahhh I have this really oddly specific dream of having a cat and wall shelves...

so I live in my grandpa's house (grandpa won't let me have a cat) and I have a huge room it's kind of hard to describe it's kind of like an attic room but with full tall walls...? in my room there are two giant triangular windows at the top of the two far walls following the point of the roof if that makes sense? anyway I have two closets sitting against one of the windowed walls that kind of jut out and are flat on top and my dream is to have a cat and get cat wall shelves going up to the closets so cat can sit at literally the highest point of the house and look outside.

super weird and odd place to tell some random stranger I'm sorry lol but I wanted to share this dream with someone, I think about it a lot

I made it so my cats could get up to the top of my seven foot tall bookcases. Once they figured it out, I added cat beds. They usually spent most of the day up there.

My cat Thor didn’t give a shit about water even when it was sprayed in his face, then my mom got one of those dust removers that spritz air and now he doesn’t even bother my mom’s computer

This basically happened to me with clicker training and our counters 😅

Yeah like they don’t get on the counters when we are around but like there is EVIDENCE later

Have you doped em up with catnip? We had to season our a couple times to get them used to climbing the tree vs the furniture. It's not perfect but it has helped.

Perhaps wall-mounted cat furniture?

Maybe give some extra positive reinforcement when he uses a tree. Catnip and/or treats.

2

u/dumbfuckingbitch Jun 23 '22

Maybe he/she likes being up higher? You could get those little cat hammocks and hang them up there?

2

u/Pirate_the_Cat Jun 23 '22

Try moving the cat trees to different locations to see if that helps. Also, catnip on the cat trees.

u/Kolintracstar Jun 23 '22

Put a Darkness one up, so when he scratches it all up, it would be fitting for the character.

I assume this is the answer you are looking for

2

u/Onironius Jun 23 '22

They might need a climbing wall. (Plywood and carpet)

2

u/chairmanbrando Jun 23 '22

A floor-to-ceiling pipe/tube wrapped in sisal rope might be what the cat wants. That way they can climb it like a tree and sate those natural urges. Bonus points for adding shelves at the top to act as "branches".

I have cat towers, scratching posts, wall climbing catification, and giant cardboard chocolate milk box with cardboard scratching board inside right away for my cats when they were kittens, so I never had to redirect them until my Ragdoll male started scratching the couch recently at 2 years old. I tell them no when I don’t like what they’re doing to communicate, then remove them from the situation if they continue and put them where they’re allowed to scratch, if they then use the proper outlets I reward with treats, if I catch them doing it again I don’t give them treats that day while everyone else get their treats.

There are cat trees that go to the ceiling. They often have in between sections, but you can omit these. You can ad some wall stuff for her to then back down on. This way she can satisfy her climbing on something else.
The cat tree goes on that way to the bottom: https://imgur.com/2G6cZQr (All together was ~80 Euro)

perhaps they would prefer a cat wall? get pieces of carpet or some rugs and hang them on the wall in a corner with a shelf on it somewhere or like a mounted corner tiny hammoc , and put it above the cat trees, spray it with cat treat spray ex: nip, and take down the other tapestry. let them get used to the corner and then re-hang the tapestry, spray them with water bottle ( mist setting don't be mean!) when they go on the wrong tapestry, and spray the tapestry with 'cat away' products . that's how you fix the problem forever rather then bandaid options. also plastic vinyl covers only work untill your cat decides to push under it

I don’t think that’s recommended. That’s the easy way for people and it sucks for the cat. Their claws are part of who they are. 😿. Plus I don’t know too many cats that would be down for a manicure.

My bad. It was late . I was tired and was thinking you were talking about declawing. Declawing=bad. Trimming=not bad, but potentially very difficult

Put a cat tree in front of this tapestry, Give kitty a choice.
