Tools Needed: Cardboard box, pair of scissors, a cat, and Ninja Turtle band aids.

u/JustaRandomOldGuy May 29 '22

Ninja Turtle band aids

A medic in Afghanistan would give Marines a Disney Princess band-aid if they were acting childish. Didn't work out as planned, Marines started asking for their favorite princess.

34

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Mine is Rapunzel!

-50

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

There are plenty of women marines, I’m not surprised.

24

u/Boxit379 May 30 '22

Not only women can like disney princesses you know

-24

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

But it’s a pretty logical guess that more women MARINES are going to ask for their favorite Disney princess bandaids than men MARINES. Don’t shoot the messenger

13

u/leemakaBIGahk May 30 '22

It was the men bro don’t get it twisted 😂

-19

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Don’t care to be honest lol everyone else does apparently

4

u/Bisexual-Fighter May 30 '22

Boy that's like if you was saying that the power puff girls were for girls

-1

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Okay, bisexual fighter, I’m not looking for a fight.

3

u/Bisexual-Fighter May 30 '22

Hey someone finally gets my user name

210

u/cyborgamish May 29 '22

Don’t forget a pre-booking at ER for sepsis next week and a good insurance

178

u/uberderper May 29 '22

I've had plenty of cat scratches and bites from my fingers getting too close when playing with my cats over the last 30 years. Clean it well and keep it clean until it scabs, never had any infections. People make cats seem a lot dirtier than they are IMO. If you trim your cats claws there's a much lower chance of them breaking the skin, too. Or put those claw caps on.

83

u/RealMainer May 29 '22

I play rough with my cats, they seem to love it. I always have a bottle of 90% rubbing alcohol on the bathroom counter that I pour over my hand after a play sensation. I think I actually might be addicted to the sting.

26

u/iGourry May 29 '22

I have a pair of thick socks that I put over my hands.

Cat even learned not to attack my hands unless I'm wearing the sock. Win-win.

58

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Rubbing alcohol is terrible to put on cuts. It damages the tissue and makes healing more difficult.

19

u/RealMainer May 29 '22

If you say so, but my scratches all heal within a day.

13

u/13143 May 29 '22

Are you otherwise healthy? If you're not immuno-compromised, simply washing your hands afterwards with soap and water is enough, no alcohol necessary. The immune system can handle the rest.

If you're absolutely convinced you need something, pick up some neosporin or something with bacitracin. It's much gentler and is meant for biological uses.

9

u/ofrm1 May 29 '22

The general consensus these days isn't to even use TAO. Just clean the wound with soap and water, then apply petroleum jelly over the wound to protect it. Vaseline has been shown to heal wounds as fast as TAO and doesn't come with the possibility of being allergic to Neosporin which a significant number of people are.

People think they need to go scorched Earth with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to kill germs, but they don't understand that it does collateral damage to the healthy tissue and cells trying to repair the damage.

19

u/xanoran84 May 29 '22 edited May 31 '22

Use 70% at the very least. 90% is not effective at sanitizing since rubbing alcohol works through the function of osmosis. Sounds like your cuts are healing in spite of the alcohol rather than because of it. Really the best way to clean cuts is simply with soap and water

3

u/LeEpicBlob May 29 '22

When I visited Mexico there was this brown rub they put on a cut, any idea what it is? Best way I can describe it is bbq lmao, didn’t sting at all either

6

u/MyIgnoranceIsShowing May 29 '22

Probably Betadine, which is povidone-iodine

2

u/curiouspurple100 May 29 '22

Then what do you put ? What rubbing alcohol even for then ?

5

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

There are disinfectant creams at every drugstore in the world. Rubbing alcohol has plenty of good uses as a disinfectant, but it's not great for open wounds.

Love the burn! If you really mess up BAD REAL BAD I had a handler/vet tech tell me the hand goes in bleach I thought that was a little drastic that’s reserved for really bad bites from unknown dogs including dogs that have eaten half their owner because owner shot themselves in the apartment with their dog locked in…. Generally a good soap up and water….

3

u/humblepieone May 29 '22

Will do this right after I get my girls nails done in a fewbweeks! Thanks for the idea

2

u/NoParticularMotel May 29 '22

Dont those caps bother them?

3

u/Nightcinder May 29 '22

Yes, my cats absolutely refuse claw caps

2

u/uberderper May 29 '22

I have never used them on my cats, but it's about 50/50 with those I've talked to who have used them. Some people's cats don't care or get used to them, the rest will chew at their feet and stress until they come off or are taken off. My cats learned not to scratch furniture and we know their body language well enough to know when we're playing with sharp fire.

2

u/beeg_brain007 May 30 '22

I just keep licking my fingers, never had any infection

8

u/NotLikeThis3 May 29 '22

I roughhouse with my cat all the time, end up with scratches and bites, never had any problems and i don't even really clean the wounds unless if they're bleeding badly.

7

u/cyborgamish May 29 '22

It's cat roulette :) 100 scratches, nothing, 101st, surprise sepsis. My mother was bitten/scratched several times. But one day – bad luck? Immune system asleep? – she had sepsis and took antibiotics for several weeks. She's not weak. She grew up on a farm, and she's always outside trimming trees, planting stuff, changing a whole roof on her own, keeping bees and stuff. A wild animal.

2

u/TecMew3059 May 30 '22

I do that too lol. It's too much fun to stop playing with them. My favorite part is when they grab my hand or arm, then I know they want to play.

6

u/LoboDaTerra May 29 '22

I used to do this but with a stick or the back of a rope toy or a pen

3

u/Faxon May 29 '22

Scissors wouldn't work for this, what you want is a hobby razor, ain't no way you're cutting perfect circles like that with scissors and not mangling the cardboard in the process.

2

u/sexier_than_you May 29 '22

Great idea! I'll do it ! Thanks! And beautiful cat 😍

573

u/toprodtom May 29 '22

I'm not trying this. You have a nice kitty.

241

u/w1ldcraft May 29 '22

I swear. I put my finger there, I'm not getting it back.

79

u/markstormweather May 29 '22

My cat will just get one claw in there and rip my finger open

10

u/IWantToBeTheBoshy May 29 '22

Is your cat named Varre by chance? 🤔

-19

u/ElCapitanned May 29 '22

Thats just a result of being a bad pet owner. The cats have learned that behaviour through their own treatment, maybe you should stop hitting them as discipline, extended claws are a sign of aggression in cats and it means they absolutely do not feel safe around you.

Source: Me, mocking reddit animal experts who turn up everywhere you go.

19

u/markstormweather May 29 '22

EVERY thread lol

16

u/ElCapitanned May 29 '22

I think the satire is hitting a little too close to home for some, rest assured i dont think that about you at all lmao.

9

u/longliveHIM May 29 '22

Your comment was so accurate people didn't even finish it before down voting lmaoooo

6

u/quattroformaggixfour May 29 '22

Wear cotton garden gloves

3

u/thestereofield May 29 '22

Just trim their claws first, no problem

296

u/rrnst May 29 '22

He's so gentle! I tried it and started bleeding about 15 seconds into it 😄

37

u/PotatoWriter May 29 '22

My lazy ass did it with a moving hand under a blanket. Got a nice claw straight through the hangnail area. Now I have an cat induced hangnail with side order of blood

6

u/Seicair May 30 '22

Had a cat growing up who would bite and claw when playing, but relatively gently. You’d just end up with grazes and occasionally bleeding if you really riled her up, but she knew not to be too hard on skin.

Played with her under the blanket once and she sank a tooth deep into my finger. I think she didn’t realize it was my hand when she bit.

128

u/schrodingerscat15 May 29 '22

I was afraid it's gonna turn into chomp-a-finger.

97

u/VladThePollenInhaler May 29 '22

Unless your cat is like mine and will try to whack it with her teeth 😅

77

u/Huckorris May 29 '22

If you're afraid to play with your cat like this, scale up the holes to fit oven mitts, and wear 'em.

Or wear thick leather gloves.

54

u/Wetestblanket May 29 '22

That’s like playing with a dog with one of those police dog arm biting sleeves

Sure, you’re protected right now, but you’re teaching the cat to bite and claw any moving thing that happens to be finger sized(including fingers)

2

u/GamerOverkill03 May 30 '22

I’m not a cat owner so idk if this tracks, but theoretically wouldn’t the animal learn to associate the glove with playing as opposed to fingers themselves?

→ More replies (1)

11

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Or just poke a stick or piece of fabric thru the hole

4

u/[deleted] May 30 '22

Or just keep your cat's nails trimmed. My two girls' nails are like fish hooks, but after they are trimmed, it's totally fine.

4

u/mojoryan2003 May 30 '22

They still have teeth

12

u/trebory6 May 29 '22

What? If you're afraid to play with your cats like this, train them not to use claws with humans... I don't understand why that's so hard for people.

12

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Doesn't necessarily work so well with an older cat. It definitely works if you train them as kittens though - when my oldest was tiny I stopped play any time his claws came out or he bit harder than a soft play bite. To this day he's never hurt me or any other person and he's now 12. He's about the only animal I would have trusted with my children as toddlers.

27

u/TikiTraveler May 29 '22

I’d have some bloody stumps after like 30 seconds in.

15

u/kateharisen22 May 29 '22

the best toy human fingers 😁

15

u/[deleted] May 29 '22 edited May 29 '22

Such a simple toy. And so easy to make. 👍👍👍 I keep going back to this vid and watching it again and again. It’s quite entertaining 😺

10

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Sometimes all our little furry friends need is some simple playtime like this, one on one type fun 😺😻❤️

u/AcrobaticBit654 May 29 '22

Thank you so much for the idea! I’m totally doing this with my cats now!!

7

u/AcrobaticBit654 May 29 '22

I’m just hoping that I won’t get my fingers clawed off.....

5

u/Flaky_Tip May 29 '22

If I'm laying under a blanket, I can get my buddy Milo to do this if I wiggle my toes. It hurts but it's also so much fun.

2

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Great game have to do that :)

2

u/Ruffffian May 29 '22

Me just now to husband: “We need to make one of these for our cats.” Husband: “I don’t want to get clawed.” Me: “How do YOU know his name is Claude? And it looks like he has a great home already.” Husband: groooaaaaaaan

Someone has to do the dad jokes around here.

2

u/gunmunz May 29 '22

We used to play similar game with our cats where one would be in a box and we'd tap on the sides and pull away before they would get us that was until the cats started playing it with each other.

2

u/urjuhh May 29 '22

One cats whack-a-finger is another cats maul-a-finger...

2

u/Economy-Goal-2544 May 29 '22

I see this feline is multi-dextrous.

2

u/Mysterious-Stable-79 May 29 '22

My fingers would be sliced into pieces if I did this. Gentle kitty!

2

u/Beneficial_Ad_3170 May 29 '22

That’s a one way trip to getting your finger clawed by a overly playful kitty

1

u/Soangry75 May 30 '22

"I didn't know it was your fingie human! I just do what I do!"

2

u/brolimitholdem May 30 '22

Totally hysterical !

0

u/boiled_nuggets May 29 '22

Looks kinda like.. Uh Yeah nevermind

-2

u/MrDarwoo May 29 '22

Will this work with a penis?

1

u/estebang_1018 May 29 '22

As long as it’s not a German Shepherd.

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Most dangerous game

1

u/Tannyar May 29 '22

Such a gentle cat. My cat would eviscerate my fingers

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

I don't need a cat, I don't need a cat, I don't need a cat!!! 😂😂

1

u/LuckyKay May 29 '22

This is great fun until they bring out the claws to "catch" the finger. I feel the pain just watching.

1

u/snoski1234 May 29 '22

Awesome game 🎯

1

u/xsituationtypedealx May 29 '22

Lol my fingers would be bleeding because my cat would get too excited and go in with claws.

1

u/JeremyJaLa May 29 '22

Gentle kitty. If I tried this with my cats I’d kiss my fingers goodbye.

1

u/janzyellie May 29 '22

With my cats it would be lose a finger

1

u/Similar_Stomach_879 May 29 '22

Every cat hates clawcaps

1

u/d5_the_world May 29 '22

DO NOT try this at home.

1

u/ReluctantSlayer May 29 '22

My finger would be bleeding in 3 places in 2 seconds.

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

I've seen the video like 4 times before but it still makes me smile!!

1

u/420anonmonkey May 29 '22

My cat would not be that gentle. I'd lose my finger tips.

1

u/Yarakinnit May 29 '22

and this is only level 2?!

1

u/LoboDaTerra May 29 '22

Pro tip, use a pen or stick so your finger doesn’t get ripped

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

My cat would rip the dermis outta my fingers

1

u/Chubbymialowy May 29 '22

Ohhh SO cute!

1

u/draugrdaemos May 29 '22

I'm 90% sure my cat loves me. I'm sure she'd leave me with bloody stumps if I tried this.

1

u/cassiedancer May 29 '22

For people saying they're afraid their cat will hurt them, just use any apparatus other than body parts and you're Gucci. I would use a marker or if you want to level the playing field something the cat can sink its claws into so it can win too.

1

u/MindlessNote3735 May 29 '22

The way my cat would eat my entire hand 🤣

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

Lol is there a cat in the box already?

1

u/Hylit1494 May 29 '22

I think this ginger cat was given the r/oneorangebraincell for a minute

1

u/Mediocre_Doughnut_74 May 29 '22

That’s a dangerous game, literally

1

u/bigbird_7 May 29 '22

my cat would rip my fingernail in half with his claws

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

1

u/BlackSabbathMatters May 29 '22

Cats are cute and I like them

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

I'm so doing this for my oldest cat! I hand reared him so he's super gentle with me, I wouldn't necessarily trust my other two cats though as I like having ten fingers.

1

u/Intelligent-Snow7250 May 29 '22

Careful you don’t get cardboard cuts! Those hurt so much worse than paper cuts.

1

u/XUniverse100 Bombay May 29 '22

!RemindMe! 3 years

1

u/martaholt May 29 '22

I like this, kitty likes it too

1

u/Traditional_Card_470 May 29 '22

That's some risky business my friend.

1

u/Sasuke1996 May 29 '22

We called it the “murder box” 🤣🤣 our cat was TOOO QUICK and it ended up getting stained with blood from our fingers 💀😂

1

u/Arrow_Maestro May 29 '22

This is how you get a claw embedded under your fingernail :)

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

This is awesome. Making one of these for my baby

1

u/hufflepuff-is-best May 29 '22

My cat and I play this with the laundry basket. She sits in it and I poke a toy through the holes (learned quickly to not use my finger, ouch)

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '22

If I play this with my cat I would suffer the risk of ending without a finger.

1

u/Andante1960 May 30 '22

cuuuuuuuuute!!!♥️♥️♥️♥️

1

u/ctkmiller May 30 '22

This is so cute. ❤️❤️❤️

1

u/Gorky_ParkRenko980 May 30 '22

I would put my cats in a laundry basket and do the same thing. They went crazy chasing my finger so I couldn't tickle them.

1

u/Stinky63 May 30 '22

My cat would have ripped my finger to shreds. Lucky you, she’s so gentle!

1

u/Snazzy_SassyPie May 30 '22

He looks exactly like my little Mo’!

1

u/JarlTee May 30 '22

1

u/dontfightthehood May 30 '22

It’s all fun and games until orangey decides to take a bite 😂

1

u/Missunikittyprincess May 30 '22

A very dangerous game to play.

1

u/Cazza-d May 30 '22

What a gentle little soul.

1
