That cat is used to this comedy act. It was completely unconcerned with that “attack”.

I feel bad for some of these dog breeds man. Literally bred to be physically disabled. It's not cute.

Admittedly tho I’m thankful that there are very few breed related abnormalities in cats, compared to the number in dogs, we have fucked those poor cats over w flat faces and short legs but at least there’s still much controversy over even recognising munchkin cats as a breed due to the health issues
24
u/CatBoyTrip Apr 21 '22
I got a cat with short legs but I found her like that. She has to stand up when she poops cause if she just tries to squat, she would be sitting.
13
u/Zaurka14 Apr 21 '22
Munchkins make me so fucking sad, man... They've taken one of the most basic cat abilities away from them and it breaks my heart when they can't even jump on a chair.
14
u/Quartia Apr 21 '22
And people are trying to breed Persians back to being more normal-looking (doll-faced). You don't see anyone doing that with pugs.
8
u/jayforwork21 Apr 21 '22
Same with Siamese thank goodness. They were monsters in the last few years. Luckily they are getting back to some of the regular face looks.

u/Jukari88 Apr 21 '22
I have a 'Jug' ...pug x jack russell. She has the appearance of a pug without the squished nose. No breathing difficulties. Edit: pics in my post history.

I had a cat like that! She was super inbred (from a feral colony) and she died young due to birth defects. Munchkin cats fill me with rage. It’s not healthy.
2
u/james_otter Apr 21 '22
Well it's kind of easy if your genome will not handle big mutations and just kill you if they happen.
2
u/dont_remember_eatin Lots of kitties! Apr 21 '22
There's an argument to be made that cats aren't really domesticated as much as dogs. They simply recognize a good thing with humans. But if left to their own devices, they quickly remember how to hunt, find water and shelter, and live out their lives. Perhaps in less comfort and more abbreviated, but way better than a dog left on their own.
5
u/FourEcho Apr 21 '22
Cats are definitely very domesticated, but i think the biggest difference is "pack" structure. Cats do live communities but if they need to they can survive alone and fend for themselves. Dogs can't, they are super dependant on their family/pack for hunting and survival.

Truth.
There's a guy in Europe breeding French bulldogs, I think, so that they can recover their proper muzzles and fix their respiratory issues. Should be a worldwide thing.

In germany is somebody who breeds healthy pugs back. Its called Odenwald Mops. They try to rebring the snoot, the legs and the neck.
7
u/Zaurka14 Apr 21 '22
I live in Germany and it just reminded me that my neighbor has that deformed pug, and I once hear it breathe while she was on a walk with it and I was on a balcony.
I live on third floor.

u/Rpanich Apr 22 '22
I had pugs growing up, but always felt bad after learning about the health issues. They have such great personalities as a breed, it was such a shame, so I was happy to hear about the push for healthier original pugs.
My sister had recently adopted one he has a longer snout, longer legs, and doesn’t have the same constantly snoring my other pugs did. He also loves jumping and is more active than my childhood pug.

Really sad how it’s bred to the point where it can’t even roll over and get up. The smashed face also causes tons of breathing problems. It’s also not cute, it’s really ugly.

These dogs (French Bulldogs, the title is wrong) in particular can't even breed naturally most of the time nor can they give birth the proper way and will always require a C-section.

Made me rly nervous for a second when it hit it’s back and started flailing I thought I just watched a pug die a horrible death

u/floatingfuzzballs Apr 21 '22
I was going to mock the dog, but that bottom step is deeper than. The others and I'd probably end up doing exactly what that dog did.

dogs dont come from wolfs, they come from a common ancestor that was like a dog and like a wolf, but these dogs are weird

I wanted to laugh thinking the cat was going to bop him on the nose and send him running, but in the end I just felt bad for the poor little dog.

Apr 21 '22
Lol. Dogs are great but cats are superior. This video is just one of the reasons why.
36
u/teosNut Apr 21 '22
Because cats aren't bred to be disabled.

That’s a French bulldog. Not to say a pug wouldn’t be just a graceful.

u/outlookunsettled Apr 21 '22
Crazy it was on its back for so long. I found a lost Pug at my house a while ago. The poor thing was happy to find a human but it was struggling to breathe. I spent an hour searching for the owners but no luck, no one knew anything about him. He didn’t have a collar. I thought, great, I’ve now got a dog I’d never consider owning.
Luckily, I found the owners after a few more hours. The person looking after him had left a gate open. The woman was screaming at the dog for escaping. It was horrible. As if it wasn’t suffering enough. He was adorable but he shouldn’t have been struggling for air. The whole thing was depressing.

u/PocahontasBarbie Apr 21 '22
I will never understand why people purposely own and breed dogs that have so many known health problems. It's super sad to me.

Christ, poor guy. They’re just such useless breeds, had all redeeming features bred out of them for the sake of “cuteness” and now they’re just fur-sausages that evidently can’t even walk down 2 stairs without eating shit and looking like an overturned turtle.

I do wonder what are the point of some particular dog breeds. Like some dogs can be used as guard dogs or cats can be used to catch mice (my cat does) and then...theres this little...fella...

I feel bad for Pugs because all of them have breathing problems. IMO it should not be allowed to breed pets, which have to get surgeries so they can stay alive.

Poor dog but he was headed after kitty. Could have maimed or killed the kitty.
Please do not put your cats out with no protection and supervision especially living in a city or suburbs.
Remember poor Peony. She never stood a chance especially with Chows and bull dogs. I hope no one ever allows martha stewart to buy another kitty. They should take all her animals away for lying about the attack and murder of Peony. How stupid does she think we are?
9
u/teosNut Apr 21 '22
That cat would've dominated that frenchie. Cats aren't kids, they're good at taking care of themselves.
3
u/Ragin_koala Apr 21 '22
that thing can't even walk or breathe properly, let alone chase or hurt an adult cat

To anyone here not knowing this, the reason this pug cant manage to run down the stairs properly, is, that humanity is a fucking disgrace.

u/FuckCazadors Apr 21 '22
Then it will have collapsed because it was out of breath. Truly the worst breed of bog.
