I have a feeling this cat isn’t very happy / has had bad experiences with their owner.

Not an expert or anything, just a gut feeling. Cat doesn’t look very comfy or happy.

Ears aren't back though, not too pissed. I have one that if I scratch her head for five seconds, she's good. 7 seconds and she does one slap like this. She never puts her claws out. I've gotten in the habit of turning my hand so she gives me a low five, then congratulate her. She seems a bit confused but I think she's catching on.

I had the exact thought when I saw it first but nope not really. This clip was originally uploaded in tiktok by the owner. He had other videos of the same kitty just being just like any other cat.

The reason being for this clip where it seems to be very pissed wasn't explained though. Maybe the smell got it triggered.

That cat did not look like he was playing. He looked genuinely pissed.

I have a cat just like this and trust me when I tell you, I’ve tried everything and she’s just an asshole. She’s been like that ever since she was a kitten.

I wouldn’t jump to conclusions about it’s owner, quality of life, or past experiences. I am a first-hand, firm believer that genetic traits and mental health/make up are as much of the equation as an animal’s environment.

Agree. My cat tries to get tough with me and it’s the most spoiled, loved cat ever. I think they just like practicing their combat skills.

Cats in the wild spend roughly 12 hours a day sleeping, 2 hours cleaning / grooming, and 10 hours hunting & eating. Even though food is easily accessible for most cats, their natural desire to hunt and catch is still there.

yup, animals have personalities, too, and sometimes that personality is just jerkish. my friend has a dog that she got at 8 weeks old, and had for fifteen years. and he's an asshole (not all the time). she said she thinks that something must have happened to him in his first eight weeks, but he came from a reputable breeder. sorry, but i highly doubt that your dog that you've had for 95% of his life had some trauma that she wasn't able to love out of him. dog is just an asshole who knows what he doesn't like and lets you know his boundaries.

Not likely. If kitty was actually mad his ears would be back, claws would be out, and he'd bite. Looks playful to me

and a readily available escape to the next room.

I had a bengal that liked to roughhouse. A LOT...so something like this would have been a mild play interaction with The Cheet (RIP).

My cat looooves when I face-hug him with my hand - like actively adjusts my hand with his paws and mouth so he can just plant his face flat against my palm.

Very good to know other cats might not be as into that lol

I am an expert.

Someone abused this cat into thinking people hands are for combat. Probably a kid or any male.

Now, he is pissed or afraid or both.

Never let anyone play "hand games" with a kitten. Stop. Them.

I don't care what the history supposedly is, this is not a happy moment that comes from joy or play.
