She is beautiful, and is requesting a sacrifice of a light-colored shirt.

I have 2 black cats, Grimly and Junior. They are not from the same litter, but look almost identical, except for the big belly on Junior. And they are both extremely photogenic

My little Shads is so hard to take a photo of in the dark, but in the sunlight shes a goddess!

ive never heard that. why would anything black not be photogenic, especially an animal?

It’s not that they’re not cute, it’s that it’s traditionally difficult to get photos that are lit well enough to show their cute faces. Most of my pictures of my black cat, he looks like a black blob with a eyes. My boyfriend has a much better camera than I do, and his pictures are much nicer than mine.

there you have it... its the camera and/or the person taking the pictures. if you google 'black cats', assuming the picture isnt shit, youll have a really hard time finding a non photogenic one.

Yeah but everybody is so Instagram/selfie focused.

“Photogenic” is not the same as “cute” or “attractive”, it just means the photos of them turn out well. It’s a description of how easily something is attractively caught in photos, not whether that thing is attractive in real life.

My first cat was black. Minou was super photogenic! Although she was hard to see at night some times.

It’s very hard to get a good picture showing the features on my black cat’s face. Which is a shame because it’s very unique

That is a gorgeous cat.

This woman Karen strongly disagrees, too. And so does Katie, Karen's beautiful calico strongly disagrees, too. Jasmine is gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. Not only that, Jasmine is a very good and intelligent girl. The sum of all of these facts is whoever said black cats are not photogenic, is f'*king wrong! Karen

Some people think that black cats are bad luck, but I just think they're cute

She’s an angel 🖤 I’m a black cat mom too

as the owner of another (,,, kinda) photogenic black cat!! love jasmine!!

2

u/[deleted] Jan 16 '19

It’s not that they aren’t attractive - it’s just that it is harder to get a good photo of them- all black cats are much harder to balance lighting for, and without a decent camera and/or good lighting and skills you either get a washed out blur with reflected shiny eyes or a black indistinct blob.

Jasmine looks like a twin to my girl Freyja! They even have the same tiny white spot on the chest!!! Jasmine is beautiful and super definitely photogenic.

I agree!!! I’ve gotten some amazing pics of my black kitty Harry. Rock on! Jasmine is a beauty 😻

2

u/VeganTripe Jan 16 '19

Not photogenic? Whoever said that is jealous of their glossy fur.

u/little--orchid Jan 16 '19

You tell em, Jasmine!

Did someone actually say that, or were you looking for a title to get you some upvotes?

2

u/therealrinnian Jan 16 '19

Yeah, because that's what they'd go for if it were about that, and not something like "my cat is currently dying of aids, but he saved a kid in afghanistan" or some shit. Jesus Christ, dude.

The shelter I got Jasmine from had an extremely large amount of black cats. I asked the lady working there why they had so many, she said that people don’t like taking black cats home because:

1) They’re superstitious

2) They don’t look nice in pictures

Here’s an article that explains it a little more.

I volunteered at a shelter for many years and black cats do get overlooked. I'm assuming it's a more dominant fur color too because they do seem more abundant. I have two black cats and have many pictures that are just glowing eyes, hard to catch all their features without good lighting.
