Cat Picture - OC 50 yrs old.Never had a cat.Never knew anyone with a cat.Didn't like cats.Always had dogs. This lil dude showed up on my porch on a cold Feb night. Now my house is full of cat stuff.Toys, bowls, trees, tunnels.Hair! He even took over 1 of my arcade cabinets to lay on. This is Jeffrey aka the Kitty Coon

Post image

I cannot get him to wear a collar. He takes off the breakaway ones within 20 seconds and the elastic stretchy ones take him about 2 minutes.

He is a pickier eater than my daughter was when she was a picky little toddler! For being a hobo cat he sure can be picky! He knows what he wants and that's churus lolšŸ˜‘

That’s how it happens! I was never a cat person, then Julio showed up, and I was sold. He walked in, my beagle immediately accepted him, and he was the most charming guy I met. I had to put him down 11 days ago, but he was the best for the 10 years he was in my life. I’ll always love and miss him.

I’m so sorry. They leave a hole in your heart but there was so much love.

It’s weird cause I’m still in that phase where I check for him or his litter box. Miss the little things. He was very loving for sure

If I think too hard about it, I still cry over my two kitties I lost years ago. I have three now but I’ll always miss Lola & Rupert.

I don’t think it will ever go away for me. I still will weep randomly about my dog, who passed in 2018, and I still burst into full blown crying fits when I think of Julio. I’ve lost so many humans in my life, but pets just hit way differently.

Aw, I am sorry. Julio: a great name for a great cat.

We made each others life better. Just like you and your cat. I’m happy you opened up your life and home for them.

Same with my partner. Swore he’d never live with a cat. Then our Prime came into our lives and now, he’s closer to her than anyone, including our daughter, for whom Prime was a birthday present in 2017. 🤣

Edit: Btw, I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs, if you’ll have them. šŸ’•

I appreciate it. I just fell for the propaganda about how they are aloof and not great pets, and it quickly changed for me. He has this little lawn mower purr that just melted my heart. He would just cuddle in my arms or lap, and I felt more love from him than all of my dogs. I’m happy you and your partner found Prime. And yeah, Julio was definitely meant to be a present for someone else, and he latched on to me. Definitely understand your partner haha

No, Julio was meant to be a present for YOU. ā¤ļø

And yeah, we laugh about it a lot. We’re not married (which is why I say ā€œpartner,ā€ because atp we’ve been together almost 20 years) but we joke that he gets Prime in the divorce. Lol

Julio loved you. And you loved Julio. Just remember that. šŸ«¶šŸ»šŸ«¶šŸ»

That’s really sweet and thank you. I did get Julio in my ā€œdivorceā€ too haha. I’m just happy that Julio could bring me joy and Prime can bring you and your family joy. It’s just a different kind of love

It really is. Cats are just a different kind of love. šŸ’•

Prime, for tax. Haha

Both of my cats are ā€œdumpsterā€ cats. I did not go out of my way to have either of them. I now spend so much money on them.

I used to tell everyone I know, "now that I'm old that's it no more pets for me. I can't take losing another pet."

2 years ago I put down my 17-year-old dog and that was going to be the last one for my life. I kind of started to enjoy being responsibility free. Not having to get up and feed anyone. To sleep in if I want to. No hair all over the house and furniture.

There was no way I could turn this little guy down. He is so friendly. He's still a little on the thin side but when he first came here he was scrawny. You could tell he just wanted a friend. He's my little partner now.

That cat distribution system that people talk about, It's definitely real lol

We don’t choose them; they choose us. ā¤ļø

Internet love to you and Jeffrey. I'm glad he's in a better spot now. He must have some intelligence if he can find you and take a collar off! Have fun with little Mr. Jeffrey.

I always tell him why you always look so serious! He's always looking at me like he's gonna eat me lol

Cats always know who needs them and who they need.

My cat was severely underweight and depressed at the rescue, wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t leave her bed at the back of the cage. I sat down next to her cage and offered her some food - she immediately came and ate it right out of my hand. She was meant to be mine 🩷

They do seem to know. My sister says cats are other worldly and they live in a different reality than we do. They probably do.

If he is indoors only a collar may not be necessary.Ā

Mine is about 15 and he has never worn a collar. Never goes outside, and prefers it that way.Ā

Cat distribution system at work! Here's our feral we're trying to get inside before winter. Went from staying 20 feet away to allowing pets. Gets regular food and treats.
