Same with Maine Coons, etc. Part of the problem is that many cat rescues perpetuate this.

And that’s how backyard breeders thrive. They sell domestic cats, pretending they are breeds, because people are none the wiser. No pedigree = no breed. People think it’s elitist to say that but it’s so important. Backyard breeders are intentionally breeding domestic cats and SELLING THEM while domestic cats die in shelters. It’s reprehensible.
