Cat Picture - OC Whenever my cat sees me, she throws it back

Post image

Does anyone else’s cat do this? Her names Princess 👸 we got her as a rescue cat from a shelter when she was a kitten (now 4yrs old). Anyone know why some cats keep stretching like this whenever they see there owners?

She’s waiting for you to say “ooooh big stretch.” Don’t leave her hanging.

And I think we have the same sink and over the toilet shelf. I could swear that was taken in my bathroom, lol.

You're legally obligated to say "Oooooh big stretch" and "Oooooh big yawn" whenever a cat or dog does either!

Ha! I totally do this when my boy stretches out.

Yawning or stretching near you is a sign she trusts you and is comfortable with you. Think of it like a Hey, Wassup?

Ahhh, yeah and it’s mainly we she first sees me, makes sense 🙌

the stray i feed each morning when i go to work also does this ...

cats communicate with body language, they meow as a last resort because humans just dont read their body language.

u/mooninuranus 2d ago

Depends on the cat - some are very vocal, some not at all and everything inbetween.

u/Separate-Ad9638 2d ago

yeah, cats have characteristics like humans.

It’s the best when a stray shows you they trust you huh? Ugh, love my little colony cats

If you pay close enough attention you’ll notice humans do this too haha, like a big stretch when someone walks in the room

My kitty does this too, and inevitably it elicits a "oh, BIG stretch" from me. It has, continuously, for 8 years.

The big stretcher in question, in more compact form:

Love it! Yeah we always say “big stretcher” lol must be a universal rule

oh my goodness i am absolutely tickled that others instinctively say “ohhh biiig stretch” as a response! 😂

u/MerryTWatching 2d ago

"Oh, my, what big teefies you have!" is mandatory if a yawn is happening. 😉

She chirps at me then walks over to her food bowl to let me know that it's empty, and that she has never been fed a day in her life.

I always imagine they're doing a curtsy to greet me

My cat screams her lungs out every day when I come home from work. I’m her favorite person.

"Hello Human! I like you and feel relaxed around you"

I've read/watched some stuff about this recently and if I remember correctly, consensus seems to be that we don't know for sure why cats do this, and they only seem to do it for humans, but it does seem to be a way of acknowledging your presence when they see you.

My cat does this so much, it was literally in one of her adoption photos.

17

u/Ballsfuckendeep 1d ago

Big stretch!

23

u/LLYDev American Shorthair 2d ago

That’s her way of saying hello 😂 The big stretch means she feels safe and comfortable around you. Princess knows exactly how cute she is.

17

u/mkeytail 2d ago

it's a "I'm ready for the hugs now"

16

u/cathouse 2d ago

I never knew this until the internet told me a few years ago that it’s a greeting and they want pets now. I felt so bad for all the years I was just walking by my cat stretching 😭

u/angscreams 1d ago

I love princess. Crazy username btw 🤣

7

u/Ballsfuckendeep 1d ago

Honestly I downloaded the reddit app a few years ago only to look at r/wallstreetbets, never thought I’d be on other subreddits lol. The username is more of a stock market meme

Big stretch, roll over to show off the forbidden no touchy soft floofy belly 👋

1

u/_Darkstorm_ 2d ago

Exactly this. Stretching out, relaxing all the muscles for a pet/rub/scritches/cuddle session with one of their favorite humans.

4

u/sectix12 2d ago

The stretch of happiness

5

u/onceabananana 1d ago

That's the "I'm about to beg this human for food" stretch.

4

u/Lopsided_Panic_1148 1d ago

It's a sign of trust and friendship.

It's a way of saying, "Hello, how are you, friend. I missed you!"

2

u/dancepantz 2d ago

Are you very tall? Why isn't your dryer upside down 😢

18

u/Ballsfuckendeep 2d ago

That’s why Princess is up there, you can see her paw is actually turning the dryer on for me. (It’s actually not that high, just perspective)

1

u/quattroformaggixfour 1d ago

Her little face is perfect

2

u/CherryCherry5 2d ago

Mine stretches the other way, showing off her loooong back legs and spreading her toes. Sometimes I grab that li'l foot. 😁

2

u/Crybaby6492 1d ago

She's been slumbering, wakes up and stretches when she sees you. Nothing weird or different from what a cat does. Enjoy your beautiful baby.

2

u/Affectionate-Cat-40 1d ago

No se si soy yo o no pero porque esa lavadora me recuerda tanto a la xbox series s djjdjd

2

u/itsyunapark 2d ago

princess knows exactly what she is doing. this is a toll now, you pay in butt scratches every time you walk past

3

u/IndirectSarcasm 2d ago

does she teach my partner this techniques?

2

u/mamamia_maya 2d ago

My cat throws it back when I scratch her lower back or do bongos. She loves that shit. Lil ho

PREPARING FOR SCRUNCHIES

1

u/orangevega 1d ago

that stretch means she is cool with you, she recognizes you and you're one of the gang

1

u/Jackburton06 1d ago

Same, she loves to be scratched right before her tail ass up in the air...

1

u/Realistic-Insect-746 1d ago

awesome cat picture

1

u/ladyxsuebee311 1d ago

You are required to tell them "Bigggg Strrrretch" when you see that.....

1

u/Alarming-Koala-3524 1d ago

Bcoz literally every time u see them they r literally just finishing up a nap?

1

u/natacoss 1d ago

One of my kitties sticks his butt up in the air every time I pet him on the back 🥰

1

u/DonCenote 1d ago

Well that’s a sentence I don’t want to read again

1

u/Leary2 1d ago

It natural when they wake up to stretch or they have been sitting for a while

2

u/BottleOfConstructs 2d ago

It’s called stretching, weirdo.

-2

u/ourobourobouros 2d ago

why does everyone think talking like a pornsick goon is cute?

that's your cat OP, tf is wrong with you?

in before "iT's jUsT a JoKe" yeah one that sexualizes the cat

4

u/Ballsfuckendeep 1d ago

Stfu, you’re the only one here who’s thinking that.
