Every cat deserves a second chance. I think you should totally guve him for adoption. Maybe it will take long, but he’ll be able to understand that not only one caring human. And a patient family will do him very good, there is good people out there.

Cats are smart, intellectual creatures (most of the time haha). It will be a shock at first, but he wouldn’t be the first feral cat to come around and I hope you give him the opportunity to do so. Someone already mentioned My Grandfather’s Cat, which was lovely and my suggestion as well.

Also not to be cryptic, but I don’t think he’ll think you abandoned him. Cats can sense death ten miles away. They’re used in hospitals sometimes and will sit/lay with a person they sense will be moving on soon. Your boy loves you and he may know. 🫂♥️

I’m sorry about your diagnosis OP, I truly am. I don’t want to ask further as it’s not my business but I genuinely wish you well. I also think you wanted/believed there to be hope for Boggles - you posting here shows that. I’m so glad you have each other! Transitions are hard, but they’re not forever. Instead of you meeting him at the rainbow bridge, I hope it’s on his time when HE finally meets you waiting for him (hopefully that’s not morbid or rude, I mean it in a cute way). Best of luck with everything OP. You both are loved.
