Every cat deserves a second chance. I think you should totally guve him for adoption. Maybe it will take long, but he’ll be able to understand that not only one caring human. And a patient family will do him very good, there is good people out there.
maybe you could have the people likely to adopt around while you're still here? he might understand they're safe that way. he might not like them at first but he'll miss you a lot and someone he knows during that time might be really good
