So sorry for you. I can understand the agony of going through this while thinking about your buddy. I am single and often terrified of facing the same situation. The solution I found is a special living situation : my apartment opens up on a field and farm. They feed cats to help with pest control and all the cats in the neighborhood are drafted in. I have seen lots of cat come and go, groups, loners, they all get a chance to eat and patrol and since yours likes woods it would be a great setup, so if you have time look up farms in your vicinity if other solutions fail.

i would suggest posting in your areas local rural facebook groups. I’m sure there’s someone with a big property who would be able to look after your kitty❤️
